This management position is responsible for coordinating and monitoring activities in the Title IV awarding and file review area including reviewing files for eligibility, verification and professional judgment requests for packaging and preparing student files for Title IV origination and disbursement. Position is also responsible for coordinating all financial aid application activities including monitoring satisfactory academic progress, electronic application transactions for initial and correction ISIR activities and managing student aid gateway (SAIG) mailboxes. The position requires the ability to work with a sense of urgency, analyze data, exercise professional judgment in reviewing financial aid applications, verification, awarding Title IV aid and tracking and processing Return to Title IV calculations for students. In addition, the position requires that all application and verification work be done accurately and compliantly in accordance with Title IV regulations. This position serves as a liaison between the corporate financial aid department and the U.S. Department of Education's Student Aid Information Gateway (SAIG) system. The role operates out of the corporate office in irvine and is not remote.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complies with, and maintains compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, accreditor standards and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret regulations surrounding Title IV awarding and direct loan certifications.
  • Collaborates with Student Finance leadership to develop strategic objectives for centralized Student Financial Services Plans and forecasts projects and initiatives to respond to emerging operational needs.
  • Oversees Process Development, Training and Quality Assurance
  • Review all student financial aid files for completeness, accuracy and ensure verification requirements are met.
  • Conducts program review level audits for all campuses and all departments impacted
  • Makes periodic visits to college campuses to ascertain U.S. Department of Education regulatory compliance deficiencies.
  • Coordinates with functional managers to assess quality of student files, as well as quality of cash management to ensure all the work conducted on the file review side will ensure a seamless and timely cash draw down in the Accounting department.
  • Maintains the company's administrative requirements for student financial aid and separation of duties compliance requirements for state and federal student financial aid.
  • Maintains knowledge of the Company's awarding and refund policies.
  • Maintains knowledge of Title IV awarding, satisfactory academic progress, 90/10 accounting principles and cash management rules and regulations.
  • Coordinates with Student Finance trainer to ensure proper trainings and updates are provided
  • Ensures ethical and accurate documentation and recordkeeping which meets all company and regulatory agency standards.
  • Participates as an active member of the Corporate Student Financial Services
  • Provides exceptional customer service and respond to inquiries from the campuses.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Key Success Factors
  • Must have knowledge of Title IV eligibility, awarding and disbursement regulations, institutional eligibility, program eligibility and all processes related to financial aid.
  • Success measured by immediate feedback from supervisor.
  • Meet verification standards as determined by IEC.
  • Maintain at least a 98% accuracy rating on all work completed.
  • Proven effectiveness in allocating and managing resources, both material and financial.
  • Ability to provide dynamic and proactive educational leadership in the areas of student financial services and all departments impacted by student finance.
  • Ability to develop both internal and external teams and partnerships.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial aid processing experience required.
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Excellent customer service, oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS-Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with strong facilitation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Must not be debarred from Title IV programs, and not in default on Title IV student loan.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and execute multiple priorities.
