Special Programs
Role Mission : To improve educational outcomes for all students by providing support to students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators in the identification, evaluation, and development of an individualized support plan designed to support students who are either in need of interventions in math, reading, or behavior or who are disabled student within the jurisdiction of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Location:
This is a full-time hybrid position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.
Travel Expectations:
May travel 25% or less at the busiest times of the year to attend conferences or training courses. Some travel to support in person in Texas regions for 504 work .
What You'll Do - Accountabilities
Essential Duties:
  • Develop and create a solid vision for district wide 504 compliance and service delivery at IDEA Public Schools
  • Provide ongoing training and support for district 504 point people and other key stakeholders at the national, regional, and campus levels
  • Pull data and audit consistently for 504 compliance through the Frontline e504 platforms
  • Work with data systems to ensure that state 504 reporting is accurate during state data collection submissions
  • Coordinate closely to ensure all updates to Texas Dyslexia mandates impacting 504 are followed district wide by coordination with National Dyslexia Coach
What You Bring - Competencies
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Thorough knowledge of State and Federal laws pertaining to the prohibition of discrimination of individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge and awareness of a broad range of student disabilities (physical, speech, hearing, vision, medical, learning, and or emotional).
  • Knowledge in laws, policies, rules and regulations pertaining to the discipline of 504 eligible students.
  • Knowledge of research related to Response to Intervention
  • Knowledge of scientifically based and developmentally appropriate instruction for children
  • Skill in working effectively as a team member to develop and implement accommodation and intervention plans.
  • Skill in Windows operating systems along with district standard software packages such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with campus-based 504 administrators, general education teachers, RTI teams, other school and District staff, parents, agencies, and community members.
  • Ability to effectively coach and support counselors, teachers and administrators on their instructional teams.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and independently to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, utilizing tact and diplomacy and maintain effective working relationships • Ability to positively impact systematic change within the district in accordance with district goals
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of District personnel and outside organizations
Experience :
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required
  • Certification: certified TX teaching certificate preferred
  • Years of Experience: 3 years related experience
  • Minimum three years' experience in an area of expertise preferred (i.e., Campus 504 Coordinator, Interventionist, R T I point person, Program Specialist, or LSSP/Educational Diagnostician)
  • Experience in both general education and special education settings is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
  • Must be able to climb ladders or scaffolding, or climb and work in overhead areas
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 15 pounds

Compensation & Benefits:
Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $89,600 and $99,100, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment .
