Position Description:

Accounting Clerk:Construction

National Construction Management and Design/Build firm is seeking Accountant to join their fast-growing team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for coordinating general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and revenue and expense accounting. The candidate must have a proven track record in accounting, be extremely detail oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. The position will report to the Controller.

Position Responsibilities: Perform ongoing journal entries and transactions within the accounting system
Perform and support month and year-end closing processes
Coordinate, record, track, analyze, and report on general ledger account balances
Ability to reconcile bank statements
Prepare financial reports in accordance with GAAP; perform analysis of data to ensure accuracy
Maintain relationships with Project Managers to ensure timely and proper accounting and account coding on project transactions
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Perform ad-hoc analysis and transactions as necessary
Monitors established procedures for contractor or subcontractor compliance with the reporting requirements according to all local, state, and federal laws governing prevailing wage.
Attends pre-construction meetings to establish guidelines with contractors for compliance with prevailing wage laws.
Establishes and maintains a documented record of payroll reports of contractors or sub-contractors with all Prevailing Wage projects.
Notifies the project superintendent of any reporting delinquencies.
Makes on-site inspections of contractors' or sub-contractors' construction locations.
Reviews monthly payroll reports of employees' wages submitted by contractors or subcontractors.
Makes regular visits to contractors' or subcontractors' offices to monitor all local, state, and federal laws governing prevailing wage.
Makes unannounced field inspections to assure that employees are working within the guidelines as specified by all local, state and federal laws governing prevailing wage.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Job Skills/Qualifications - Bachelors degree with three years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education
Two or more years of experience with prevailing wage compliance
Two or more years of experience with government contracts
Three or more years of payroll experience
In-depth functional experience with data validation, federal and state compliance regulations.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of payroll related information.
Understanding of pay calculations, pay standards and wage and hour laws.
Solid understanding of payroll processes and data flows between HR, Payroll, Benefits & Compensation
Excellent Stakeholder management/ Customer Experience Skills
Experience working in Payroll related projects and/or implementations.
Proven background in problem solving and partnership in a global environment.
Passion for working with people and systems, and a strong interest in helping customers succeed.
Self-starter and ability to work independently but also collaborate across teams.
Organizational skills to manage multiple moving parts simultaneously and optimally in a matrix organization and with very little oversight and direction.
Ability to think critically and question the status quo.
High degree of client orientation and Customer service mind-set
Strong analytical approach to problem solving, high degree of proactive behavior and result orientation.
High degree of structure and self-organization, deadline focused.
Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Prior work experience with a project-based company, especially Construction Management, Construction, or Architecture & Engineering firm
