As a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in electric vehicle applications, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge electrical systems for our powertrains. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, software engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of our EVs. Your expertise will contribute to the advancement of our EV technology and help us achieve our mission of revolutionizing the transportation industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hands-on development and design of electrical systems, including high-voltage battery management systems, power electronics, motor control systems, and charging infrastructure.
Lead the electrical architecture development for EV platforms, considering system requirements, safety standards, and performance targets.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical systems into vehicle platforms, ensuring efficient space utilization, thermal management, and overall vehicle performance.
Conduct detailed analysis, simulations, and testing to evaluate and optimize electrical system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
Design and implement control algorithms for motor control systems, ensuring smooth acceleration, regenerative braking, and optimal energy management.
Collaborate with software engineers to develop embedded software for electrical systems, including communication protocols, diagnostics, and fault detection algorithms.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements throughout the development process.
Support the manufacturing team during the production phase, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance to resolve electrical system issues.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies, trends, and advancements in the electric vehicle industry, actively contributing to the company's innovation and R&D efforts.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development
Comfortable with a 50 hour work week
BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.
Proven experience (10 years) in electrical engineering
Strong knowledge of electric vehicle architecture, high-voltage battery systems, power electronics, motor control, and charging infrastructure.
Ability to use electrical engineering software and tools for simulation, analysis, and design (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, Altium, etc.).
In-depth understanding of automotive or marine electrical systems, safety standards (ISO 26262), and relevant regulatory requirements.
In-depth understanding of raw materials and components that complete a wire harness, including body harness, low-voltage, and high-voltage harnesses.
Hands-on experience with EV testing, including electrical system validation, performance testing, and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with communication protocols and standards used in EVs (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a simple format.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in leading engineering projects or teams.
