Lab Assistants are responsible for providing assistance to HT students. In this position, the Assistant serves as the first contact person for students seeking technical help with computer related issues, such as clearing and correcting printing issues and network log-on issues. Students must also perform basic computer troubleshooting, including printer maintenance.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES: Lab Assistants are responsible for maintaining a clean quiet work area for students, ensuring the lab is stocked with paper and cleaning of computers in labs spaces. Lab Assistants must monitor to ensure abuse is not occurring in the labs, ensure lab rules are being followed, staying abreast of IT’s maintenance, announcements and alternate means to access equipment in case of emergencies and attend all mandatory training sessions offered by IT.
SKILLS
Customer Service: Respond promptly in a friendly and helpful manner to questions. Demonstrate patience and persistence when helping difficult or emotional students.
Interpersonal Skills: Effectively and courteously helps students, faculty, staff and administrators with lab-related issues.
Oral Communication: Ability to explain lab-related issues clearly and concisely.
Written Communication: Ability to submit work reports about issues in the lab.
Academics:
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 and above
• Major in Computer Science, Engineering and Business preferred
