Hour s:

  • Day Shift 7:30am - 3:30pm (1 hour unpaid break) - 10 open posit ions
  • Evening Shift 3:30pm - 11:30pm (1 hour unpaid break) - 10 open posit ions
  • Night Shift 11:30pm - 7:30am (1 hour unpaid break) - 2 open posit ions
  • Staff must be willing to stay in the Cal Poly Humboldt dorms dur ing the events for all shift s

Job Descr ipt ion : Under the direct ion of the event leads, this posit ion will serve as support staff for events
held in summer 2024 by the Redwood Coast K- 16 Educat ional Collaborat ive. In par t icular , staff will help
run three (3) High School Readiness Ret reat s in June. This posit ion is responsible for leading, mentor ing,
and monitoring their group of minor students (up to 15 students) throughout the event . This posit ion
requires an ability to communicate and engage with young students as well as support in prepar ing and
cleaning up after events. The level of act ivity var ies depending on shift . These events follow an agenda
writ t en by the event leads, but also require flexibility and ability to problem solve in the moment . These
responsibilit ies will largely fall on the event leads but having the skill set will be beneficial for all event
staff.
Event Staff will be working in collaborat ion with school chaperones and must demonst rate the ability to
communicate effect ively with them. Event staff must also demonst rate the ability to keep their energy
and posit ivity up throughout the shift as young students will be looking to you as a role model. Event staff
must be reliable , take charge when asked, follow direct ions and remember several procedures in order to
keep students safe. Other dut ies as assigned by the event leads.

Min im um Qualificat ion s:
  • 18 years or older
  • The events all involve minors: staff must pass 2 background checks and complete mandated
reporter t rain ing (to be paid by Redwood Coast K- 16 Collaborat ive upon successful hir ing)
  • Enrolled in a Post- Secondary program (t rade program, cert ificat ion program, community college,
4- year university)
  • Reliable t ransportat ion
  • Ability to take direct ion
  • Ability to manage t ime effect ively
  • Ability to communicate effect ively
  • Ability to work independent ly

Pr efer r ed Qualificat ion s:

  • CPR/ First Aid Cert ified
  • Experience working with students
  • Experience with conflict management
  • Understanding of developmental components of students, aged 13- 15 years old
