Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Line Cook/Prep Cook to join our team! You will be preparing and cooking a variety of dishes for restaurant guests to enjoy.
You are passionate about creating exceptional guest experiences through good, quality food. With previous experience as a cook, you are able to manage multiple priorities and contribute to a friendly and productive team atmosphere. Ideally, you have your ServeSafe or Food Handler’s certification. 
As a member of Huey Magoo's restaurant operating team, the Line Cook/Prep Cook is responsible for the preparation of food items, quality assurance, proper presentation, cleaning and proper sanitation of the kitchen, and ensuring fast, efficient service according to company standards. The cook is a key team member in maintaining proper portioning, waste controls, and practicing common sense safety rules while performing his/her duties.
Responsibilities: 
  • Food preparation - Prepares and handles food according to all federal, state, and local regulations. Prepares food items according to guest checks, assuring that products are made according to company standards for quality and presentation. Assures proper flow of orders for product temperature and fast delivery to the customers. Preps product for the next shift as directed.
  • Menu and guest checks - Maintains thorough knowledge of all menu items, prices, and abbreviations. Properly fulfills guest orders. Responds to guest feedback with appropriate urgency and professionalism.
  • Quality control - Ensures freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock according to established procedures to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage. Maintains standards for portion control according to established procedures while minimizing product waste.
  • Equipment operation - Sets up the cook line according to company specifications. Ensures that the grills, fryers, food warmers, refrigerators and other equipment are maintained at specified temperatures and settings. Maintains a neat and organized kitchen, including workstations, walk-ins, floors, etc.
  • Cleanliness – Inspects and cleans food preparation areas such as equipment and work surfaces or serving areas according to established procedures and frequency, to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices. Maintains thorough knowledge of proper cleaning materials. Responsible for general cleanliness and appearance of work area before, during and at the end of shift.
  • Maintains professionalism in personal appearance, conduct, and in the completion of duties.
  • Safety Practices – Adheres to established safety rules to ensure customer and employee safety. Maintains alertness to assist in the event of an accident or emergency. Promptly reports safety concerns and accidents to management.
  • Inventory Management: Maintains order in the walk-in; Unpacks deliveries and places them in the appropriate area. Reports missing product to management immediately.
Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma or higher preferred
  • Previous experience as a fast casual restaurant cook preferred 
  • ServeSafe or Food Handler’s certification a plus
  • Effective interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs 
  • Ability to work standing for 8 hours
