Baking Assistant
Small but growing wholesale bakery specializing in French-based pies, cakes and quiches for the NY Metro and Hudson Valley areas in need of a Baking Assistant for all baking and packing operations. Applicant must have 3-5 years of experience in wholesale or retail baking. Knowledge of FDA and NYS Dept. of Agriculture regulations for food safety and company food quality standards is highly desired.
Essential duties and responsibilities of the Baking Assistant include but are not limited to:
-To assist Head Baker in the operations related to the baking and finishing of all products for distribution and/or retail sales.
-To assist Head Baker with cleaning, sanitizing and all prep and finishing operations and duties.
-To assist Head Baker with inventory of items and to ensure that ingredients and packaging materials are in stock and available.
-Maintain sanitary conditions and cleanliness of facility, including storage, at all times.
-Assess the quality of raw materials before baking.
-Ensure the proper storage of baking ingredients, utensils, and equipment.
-Assist with the monitoring of all cooling and freezing equipment for proper temperatures and sanitary conditions.
-Adhere to FDA and NYS Dept. of Agriculture requirements and inspections.
-Manage and coordinate customer needs for food safety requirements and inspections.
-Work with Head Baker and Management to create new recipes and products.
-Verify all ingredients and ensure required labels are accurate.
-Assist with any other projects and needs of the business as requested.
Experience and Skillsets:
-3-5 years of baking in a commercial and/or wholesale environment.
-Knowledge of FDA and NYS Dept. of Agriculture food safety requirements and regulations.
-Must exhibit knowledge of email and computing skills adequate for business operations.
-Effective communication skills.
-Willingness to learn.
Benefits:
Pay: $37,500.00 - $45,000.00 per year based on experience and skillsets.
-PTO to include paid holidays, vacation, personal and sick days.
-Simple IRA matched by Company (up to 2% of earnings).
-Flexible schedule (within reason).
