At Hudson Pacific Properties (HPP), we provide best-in-class office space to the biggest names in tech and media (i.e., Netflix & Amazon), and we're seeking a Payroll Manager to support our company portfolio.
The Payroll Manager will supervise the organization's multi-state payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with state and federal government regulations.
The Payroll manager is responsible for managing, performing, and supervising all activities necessary for the processing and administration of payroll programs, including, but not limited to, the semi-monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly payroll, bonuses, employee and director stock grants and dividend payments, and all compensation plans.
Plan and supervise all assigned departmental activities to ensure a cohesive and collaborative team. What You'll Do
- Maintain, review, and perform audits of the payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Serve as backup to all Payroll Administrator tasks, able to step in for coverage when necessary.
- Coordinate quarterly payments to the Board of Directors of cash and stock grant compensation, including vesting of stock grants and quarterly dividend payments, and process required tax forms.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices and advise leadership on needed actions.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Provide support to the HRIS system, including testing for any efforts that support the team and organization.
- Manage the entire payroll process (including but not limited to) :
- Ensure accurate payrolls are processed.
- Generate, review, and reconcile payroll reports and time and attendance records.
- Review payroll for accuracy.
- Prepare all related payroll journal entries.
- Investigate and resolve payroll issues, providing great customer service and communication to any employee as needed.
- Miscellaneous projects as assigned.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Human Resources, or related field required or relevant experience.
- 5 years of payroll administration experience required.
- In-depth knowledge of union payroll and collective bargaining agreements is required.
- Multi-state payroll experience is required.
- Proven leadership experience managing 1-2 team members is required.
- Experience processing payroll in ADP Workforce Now. Workday experience preferred.
- Canada and the United Kingdom payroll processing experience is a plus.
- Excellent computer skills and demonstrated working knowledge of software including MS Windows, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (knowledge to produce v-lookup, IF formulas, and pivot tables frequently with ease).
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities while staying focused and meeting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
- Proven knowledge of all Federal and State laws to ensure compliance with all government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, etc.
- Extremely proactive, highly organized, able to shift priorities, pay attention to detail, and have strong problem-solving skills, desired.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop metrics and reports.
- Strong verbal / written communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- CPP certification is a plus.
- This role is temporary (estimated duration of 6 months).
- Travel between our HPP headquarters (Los Angeles, CA) and our Quixote by Sunset Studios location (Sun Valley, CA) will be required.
Salary Range : $100,000.00 to $125,000.00 annually USD (subject to relevant experience).
