Position Description:
HRS is seeking full-time Mental Performance and Resilience Optimization (MPRO) Trainers for opportunities delivering group training and individual coaching to various populations including DoD personnel, veterans, first responders, healthcare providers, and corporations. The MPRO Trainer role requires individual and group training following an established curriculum that utilizes biofeedback and wearable technologies.
HRS’s Human Performance Programs focus on improving individual and team performance, enhancing resiliency, strengthening mental and physical wellness, building leadership qualities, and developing operational readiness. Through MPRO, the ideal candidates will provide mental skills training to participants that emphasizes the ability to set and attain goals, develop a growth mindset, maintain focus and concentration amidst distractions, master stress management and regulation, be mentally agile, build self-confidence and achieve emotional resilience.
Skills Testing Requirement: Qualified candidates will be required to design and deliver an overview of a customized performance psychology training program for a population of choice on Power Point or Canva. Presentations will be delivered to key HRS personnel and leadership as part of the interview process.
Security Clearance Requirement: Public Trust; Current VA Suitability (PIV card) is a plus.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Conduct group workshops (in-person and/or virtually) in accordance with the HRS MPRO curriculum to various populations.
  • Provide individual and group coaching sessions (in-person and/or virtually) to build upon content covered in workshops and help participants develop and master skills learned.
  • Responsible for administering various assessments including biofeedback assessments, documenting training and evaluating progress, and collecting/analyzing data to measure individual, group, and programmatic changes.
  • Generate individual and group training reports as needed in compliance with various government contracts.
  • Participate and assist in any HRS Program implementation as needed and contribute to the overall success of the HRS mission.
  • Assist in administrative and related duties for various projects and contracts upon request including scheduling coaching sessions, aiding in the preparation of necessary materials such as workbooks, and participating in virtual meetings with contract related personnel.
  • Work alongside HRS personnel currently providing services within the Human Performance domain including the Peak Performance and Self-Advocacy Programs.
  • Maintain a commitment to professional development to stay up to date with the latest trends in this field to ensure the services provided to HRS clients is optimal.
Experience/Education Requirements:
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Current Public Trust access or ability to pass a background investigation to obtain and maintain security access credentials
  • Master’s Degree (minimum) in Performance Psychology domain or related discipline (Sport Psychology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Counseling/Psychological Services)
  • 3 years of related experience (continuous preferred) working as a mental performance coach or providing performance enhancement training to collegiate or professional athletes, military personnel, business executives, etc. in an applied setting
    • Individuals with a stronger exercise science/kinesiology background must have completed coursework/training and have experience working in the Performance Psychology field
  • 2 years of experience teaching/facilitating group workshops/trainings (both in-person and virtual teaching experience)
  • Comfortable utilizing data-driven approaches and following a successful and established curriculum already in place.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and ability to be compassionate with higher risk populations.
  • Experience with peak performance mental skills training including, effective goal setting, stress and energy management, emotional intelligence, mindfulness, sleep hygiene, growth mindset, building resilience, and improving overall well-being
  • Proven abilities and experience to:
    • Engage with, gain trust, and build rapport with a range of clients despite previous experience with particular populations
    • Take initiative and continue professional development/education in order to stay up to date with the latest technology, techniques, and trends
    • Be team oriented and tackle requests with an “all-hands on deck” approach
    • Be an energetic and engaging presenter, adapting to the needs of the participants
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to succeed in a dynamic environment and provide optimal services to elite populations
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Availability to support on-site work and business travel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) or CMPC-eligible preferred
  • Active Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) certification OR willing to complete training related to BCIA certification (one-year process that entails successfully completing didactic course, mentored hours, applied hours, and passing a certification exam) is a plus
  • Additional mental health related training is a plus including but not limited to suicide prevention/intervention training (i.e. ASIST or SAFE Talk), Mental Health First Aid, Critical Incident Stress Management is preferred
  • Experience working in the field of physical wellness, including sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and nutrition is a plus
  • Experience working with populations in high demand, high risk professions is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of utilizing wearables and biofeedback technologies to enhance skill acquisition is preferred
  • Experience tracking outcome metrics and collecting and analyzing data is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience using statistical programs such as SPSS is preferred
