Howell Public Schools is Hiring an Administrative Support (Contact Tracing) Near Howell, MI

Position Title: Administrative Support (Contact Tracing)

Number of Positions: 1

Location: Howell High School 10-12

Reports To: Building Principal & Assistant Superintendent of Labor Relations

Status: Non-Affiliated; Temporary (2021/22 School Year Only), At-Will

Hours: 7-8 hours/day; 35-40 hours/week, Monday - Friday 

Work Year: School Days through Thursday, June 2, 2022

SUMMARY:

The Administrative Support (Contact Tracing) will provide assistance with District required contact tracing of staff and students as detailed by the Livingston County Health Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • General office duties including answering the telephone, filing, copying, correspondence via email.
    • Answers phones and returns calls to parents regarding questions surrounding standard and alternative quarantine processes.
    • Keeps track of students whose parents have notified the District of their SARS-CoV2 vaccination status with detailed spreadsheets and entering information into PowerSchool, as needed.
    • Shares document regarding contact tracing with appropriate administrator(s) and teachers for completion.
    • Compiles student and staff data from documents completed by teachers and administrators and enters into spreadsheets that assist Principal with notifications to parents and staff of recent exposure to SARS-CoV2.
    • Enters updated attendance information into PowerSchool in accordance with correct quarantine absence codes.
    • Works with Assistant Superintendent of Labor Relations & Personnel (ASLR&P) to regularly check the status of students involved in alternative quarantine program. Notifies ASLR&P when principal or building staff have indicated a student is not compliant with the program requirements.
    • Other duties as assigned regarding contact tracing.
    • Other clerical duties as assigned within the school building if no contact tracing assignments are occurring.
    • Regular, predictable attendance.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Successful completion of the HPS secretarial exam.

Prefer prior clerical experience within a public school setting.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, students, staff and the general public consistent with the duties of this position.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure consistent with the duties of this position.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations consistent with the duties of this position.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists consistent with the duties of this position.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form consistent with the duties of this position.

The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY:

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

The work environment is normally indoors with controlled climate conditions. Occasionally the employee may be required to be outdoors for a short period of time, and therefore subject to varying weather conditions, for purposes of accomplishing the essential functions of this job.
