Howell Public Schools is Hiring a Teacher of Record (9-12) Near Howell, MI

Job Title: Teacher of Record (9-12)

Reports To: Highlander Virtual School (“HVS”) Lead Administrator and/or Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services 

Location: Remote (Offsite & Asynchronous)

Union: HEA

Number of Positions: Multiple

Wages: Compensated on a stipend basis in accordance with the number of students per semester as follows:

For the 2024/25 school year;

1-10 students = $750 per semester

11-15 students = $1,250 per semester

16-25 students = $1,750 per semester

26-35 students = $2,000 per semester 

*Applicants must detail the subject area and grade level of their teaching certification(s).

Teacher of Record (“TOR”) (9-12)

Summary - TOR (9-12):

The TORs (9-12) work with HV Paideia Learning students in grades 9-12 asynchronously and remotely. The TORs work with the course content and collaborate directly with Paideia lab instructors to provide instructional support for students and assess student learning through grading and auditing. The TORs are responsible for reporting outcomes in relation to student grading/auditing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - TOR (9-12):

  • Utilizes the HV Paideia Learning LMS (Learning Management System) to access all student materials and work. 
  • Works weekly with the HV Paideia Learning lab instructors to access and review course content, assignments, audit grades, and record grades into PowerSchool consistent with pupil accounting requirements.
  • Works with a Howell Public Schools case coordinator to support any HV Paideia Learning special education student.
  • Works with Howell Public Schools to implement 504 plans.
  • Submits finalized grades for all students to Howell Public Schools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree and valid Michigan teaching certificate in the subject area and grade level of teaching assignment required.

  • Strong knowledge of productivity applications such as Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software), Google platform applications (Classroom, Docs, Sheets) and others are required.
  • Ability to create documents that are well organized and display information that is logical and graphically appealing.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently, as well as cooperatively with diverse groups.
  • Attention to detail and ability to edit documents to ensure error free communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

The noise level in the work environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day.
