POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Manager will help lead the day-to-day clinical activities within a health center to deliver excellent patient care. A member of the center’s leadership team, the RN Clinical Manager will directly supervise all non-provider clinical staff that are either licensed or credentialed. This includes the registered nurses and medical assistants. With full oversight and leadership responsibility for the clinical support staff, the RN Clinical Manager has authority to assign work and responsibilities on a daily basis to maximize patient care, ensuring it is delivered in an effective and efficient manner. The RN Clinical Manager will report directly to their center’s Practice Manager, with a dotted line report to the Site Medical Director.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The RN Clinical Manager will have a hybrid position of 80% working with their direct reports to ensure effective and efficient flow for delivery of care in their center. This includes overseeing all in-center patient flows and ensuring timely response to Epic-related patient communication. Administrative tasks to be completed include leadership rounding, holding a minimum of monthly 1:1 supervision with each team member, review/approval of bi-weekly timecards, and setting work schedules.
  • The RN Clinical manager will supervise, motivate and coach all clinical team members at their designated locations.
  • The RN Clinical Manager may be required to “work the floor” providing direct patient care within the clinic from time-to-time as coverage and schedules require. This is expected to take up to 20% of time.
  • With support from the Director of Nursing, ensure all clinical protocols are being adhered to and that clinical support staff are complying with licensure and credentialing standards.
  • Support the management of a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
  • The RN Clinical Manager will perform all clinical functions within the scope of nursing, and provide treatments based upon the Standard Orders Guidelines. Maintain accurate and necessary patient documentation in accordance with all regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain clinical competency through continuing education, recertification (including CPR), and clinical practice. • Adhere to Howard Brown Human Resources Policies and Procedures.
  • Actively participate in fulfillment of organization’s mission, vision, and core values. Adhere to OSHA standards in delivery of care to all patients.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement process via data collection, evaluation of results, and implementation of recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIRED:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current RN License in the state of Illinois
  • Nursing degree (BSN or Associates) or related degree
  • 3-5 years of nursing experience 2
  • 1-3 years management/supervisory experience
  • Direct experience with Patient Centered Medical Home concepts and model implementation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a hospital or outpatient setting.
  • Knowledge and experience working with multi-ethnic, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender queer client’s population
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work efficiently under time restraints
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with a large team
  • Able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Knowledge of/experience with Epic EMR
