JOB SUMMARY
Provides support to the Government Relations Department by analyzing federal and state legislation, statutes, rulemaking, and regulations, coordinating voter registration efforts, analyzing department budget, and maintaining the Legislative Advisory Committee minutes. In addition, serves as a resource to ensure district departments implement federal and state policies.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides assistance to the Director of Government Relations in analyzing federal and state legislation, statutes, rulemaking, and regulations, and coordinates with all District departments to ensure federal and state policy implementation. Maintains a historical record of files and department communication.
  • Provides assistance to the Director of Government Relations by coordinating with county election departments to provide district campuses and facilities as polling locations during an election as well as assisting with all voter registration efforts.
  • Provides assistance to the Director of Government Relations by maintaining minutes and attendance for the Legislative Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Monitors the Government Relations Department budget and completes travel related expenses forms and coordinates department meeting expenses and logistics for Director of Government Relations.
  • Provides assistance to the Director of Government Relations in preparing documents for approval by Chief Engagement Officer.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
3 to 5 years
Legislative, political, or government relations background with and emphasis in policy analysis
SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
SAP, Microsoft Office
Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)
Strong writing, editing, and analytical skills are required.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff.

Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis.

Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude, but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
Ability to carry and/or lift less than 15 pounds.
