Housing Authority of the City of Reno is Hiring a Workforce Development Coordinator Near Reno, NV

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR 

The Reno Housing Authority is seeking candidates for the position of Workforce Development Coordinator. The Workforce Development Coordinator designs, develops, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates education, career, employment support programs and services that assist clients of the Housing Authority in achieving economic self-sufficiency. In this role you would be responsible for assigned key areas of the program and would provide oversight to ensure planned program and client outcomes are achieved. This includes coordinating outreach and assessing program performance; collaborating with other public and private agencies to secure implementation of client programs.

Examples of some of the essential duties are:

  • On a one-on-one basis or in a group setting, instructs in job seeking, application process, resume writing, interview preparation and job retention skills and attitudes; assists clients in developing individual training plans that will fit their specific needs and skills to update or retrain for the current labor market.
  • Reviews and evaluates clients personal and vocational skills and readiness; works with clients to develop multi-year individual development plans.
  • Monitors action plans and meets regularly with clients to assess progress and identify support needed.
  • Conducts orientations; hosts presentations provided by partnering agencies; facilitates work readiness and financial education workshops.
  • Maintains relationships and interacts regularly with service delivery partners, other interested and involved organizations, community representatives, clients, and others to promptly identify and resolve problems that could undermine program effectiveness.
  • Assists clients in the development of resident micro businesses; advises and provides referrals for business planning assistance; monitors for Section 3 business compliance.
  • Performs outreach to inform residents of self-sufficiency programs and meet agency and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Coordinates gathering of data and preparation of supporting documents; research best practices and diverse concepts to utilize in the planning process.
  • Implements specialized training and skills development programs, including 
     pre-apprenticeships and training for non-traditional occupations, in collaboration with other public, private and/or community agencies; determines program delivery partners; drafts course content and develops curricula.
  • Researches, analyzes, updates and maintains data on participants, demographics, progress needs and services; determines program effectiveness and direction in relation to participant status, progress and needs.

WHAT IS NEEDED?

The minimum qualifications needed for this position are: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, public administration, education, or a related field from an accredited college or university. 
  • At least two (2) years of increasing responsible experience in developing and implementing client-self-sufficiency, upward mobility, educational, social service programs. 
  • Previous experience working with diverse low-income or targeted populations desired.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to successfully perform the work.
