JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Director of Communications and Partnerships to lead the organization’s efforts to elevate our visibility and impact in the community. The Director will work with the marketing and communications agency of record to develop and implement key communication strategies for all agency stakeholders including residents, property owners, and partners. Key responsibilities include communications planning; internal, external, and crisis communications; content creation; digital marketing; and facilitating partnerships. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, is critical for success in this role.

PRINCIPAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
  • Develop and execute strategic communication plans to support organizational goals and objectives, including messaging and outreach strategies.
  • Develop content calendars for our various audiences to help convey the organization mission, vision, and overall messaging. Work closely with the agency of record to produce and distribute content over the organizations various platforms.
  • Draft and/or review all external communications with public housing residents, Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) residents, HCV property owners, vendors, and community partners. Communication methods include, but are not limited to letters, notices, resident and/or property owner newsletters.
  • Oversee the organization's digital presence, including website management, email marketing campaigns, and online advertising.
  • Ensure effective communication and alignment among internal stakeholders, including staff, board members, and volunteers. Develop internal communication protocols and tools.
  • Work closely with the agency of record to develop plans and strategies to react to crises.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain close rapport with partnership agencies. Function as liaison and coordinator for approved partner organizations to help County Housing residents achieve self-sufficiency.
  • Track and analyze communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies and tactics. Make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to amplify messaging and maximize impact.
  • Develop an Annual Report each year highlighting the accomplishments of County Housing and our programs.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, with a focus on public service, non-profit organizations and/or affordable housing advocacy.
  • Strong understanding of the affordable housing landscape, including key issues, stakeholders, and policy dynamics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and engaging narratives and messages for diverse audiences.
  • Proven track record of successful media relations, including securing press coverage and managing media inquiries.
  • Experience managing digital communication channels, including websites, social media, and email marketing platforms.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute integrated communication plans.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Director of Communications and Partnerships will primarily work within the office environment but may also manage multiple tasks simultaneously, such as managing email correspondence, participating in meetings, and overseeing various communication projects, which may require sitting for prolonged periods. This role will engage in occasional physical tasks such as bending, reaching, sitting, and walking during the workday and may require the ability to lift items weighing at least 20 pounds. Moreover, the individual will spend extended periods each day working on a personal computer. The position requires flexibility in working hours to occasional participation in networking events like industry conferences, stakeholder meetings, or social gatherings, which may entail prolonged periods of standing or walking.
