Horizon Project, Inc. is Hiring a Training Specialist Near Pendleton, OR

Description

Classification: Hourly, non-exempt

Reports to: Training Manager

Location: Pendleton with travel to Hermiston and Milton-Freewater (in-person, not remote)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8AM-4PM

Hours may vary slightly for training and program needs. Limited weekends or evening assignments.

Wage Scale: $20-$26 per hour, D.O.E.

Objective

Horizon Project is a non-profit organization that provides support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Umatilla Count, Oregon. The Training Specialist will support the regulatory and developmental training needs of our new and existing staff members. This includes assisting with bi-weekly Orientation classes, tracking and generating reports for training expiration/renewal dates, maintaining accurate training files, data entry, and other training and development assignments as needed. This role is integral in ensuring the company has accurate and organized records to stay in compliance with Oregon State licensing rules.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Leads or co-leads Certification or Orientation sessions.
  • Updates and maintains training documentation, including training rosters, sign-in sheets, completed certifications, and other applicable forms.
  • Works with the Training Team to ensure all training is accurately filed in the employee physical file and as a digital record
  • Ensures employees are scheduled for retraining prior to the expiration date to meet state licensing requirements
  • Flexibility to travel to our three offices including Milton-Freewater, Pendleton, and Hermiston to provide training as needed.
  • Assists with the Training Manager to assess and re-design current training presentations and handouts for both live and online training modules.
  • Identify training needs within all departments and offer feedback to the Training Manager.
  • Regularly audit training documents to ensure accuracy.
  • Complete Licensing renewal packets as requested.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Acts as Tier 1 support for employees needing help with Workday, including password reset, generating certificates, pulling transcript reports, activate/inactivate accounts, etc.

Work Schedule

The normal work schedule may vary due to residential requirements of 24-hour service provision; exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift that they are scheduled to work. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree or 1 year of active training experience in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Valid Driver's License with a driving record that is insurable by HPI's auto insurance provider
  • Pass an Oregon State Criminal Background Check
  • Pass a drug test
  • Be over the age of 18 years old
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc)
  • Proficient in Google applications (Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Meets, Calendar, etc)
  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication, customer service, attention to detail, and organization
  • Communicate in English
  • Speak in front of small and medium-sized audiences
  • Can apply concepts of and practices of adult learning; has the ability to design and execute adult learning programs that allow for improved business results and workplace activities to gain efficiencies.
  • Preferred prior experience as a trainer
  • Preferred prior experience in I/DD services, caregiving, or related field.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This is primarily an office job; however, it will involve interaction with intellectually and/or developmentally disabled individuals which can result in physical contact and/or verbal exchanges. It is important to travel to programs and to meet with individuals where they are most likely to interact with staff, family, and others, at times after normal office hours.
