Job Title: Global Product Testing and Regulatory Compliance Manager

Reports To: VP, Compliance

Location: Warren, NJ or remote (must work EST hours)

Summary:

Plan, coordinate and communicate policies and procedures of the Compliance Department to internal and external teams. Ensure quality, safety and compliance with global regulatory standards in the markets we sell. Execute against developed design control and risk management processes. Monitoring and stay abreast of evolving/pending regulatory changes and communicate to organization and support change management to ensure business readiness against upcoming regulatory changes. Support internal investigations of compliance issues. Work with the Product Development team on protocols and processes to address any hazards and potential risks on new product development and age grade determinations. This role will require a commitment to learning and understanding past business practices and present practices while molding future processes to establish a clear path for visibility, growth and market expansion. The individual has department/group/site level influence and is generally recognized as an expert resource within the organization. The individual may share knowledge and expertise with others in support of team activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain processes and procedures within the Compliance Department for overall efficiency and visibility.
  • Evaluate and communicate retailer requirements for overall product safety, regulatory compliance and testing of our products to SHO and Vendor Partners.
  • Make sure all testing protocols are being followed and testing costs are efficiently managed
  • Conduct periodic internal reviews and audits of global compliance procedures to ensure they are followed and effective.
  • Manage CPSC E-filing database, including but not limited to; data entry for new suppliers, products, BOM’s, etc; as well as testing coordination and final submission to the CPSC.
  • Manage impending EU DPP process, using principles and data from the CPSC E-Filing Requirements to support data and system continuity
  • Manage artwork review and claims substantiation process to ensure claims are supported, documented, along with test data being tied to claims, in a manner that allows for easy accessibility upon demand and ensuring data validity and test frequency.
  • Work with Vendor Partners on continuous improvements for overall safety/compliance performance.
  • Communicate written policies and procedures relating to compliance activities with US, SHO and Vendor Partners.
  • Maintain documentation of compliance activities, such as testing, complaints received or investigation outcomes and Corrective Action Plans.
  • Actively support the cross-functional teams (Product Development, Engineering, Sourcing, Graphics/Packaging, Sales, Program Management, and Customer Experience) to deliver fun, safe, compliant products on time.
  • Support international sales expansion through preparing global market access reports for existing products, enabling the sales and marketing team to evaluate barriers to entry into new markets.
  • Continuously monitor, evaluate and communicate emerging compliance changes and potential issues.

Skills:

  • Must be highly organized and exhibit excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload based on tactical requirements and strategic plan.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and a highly resourceful problem solver.
  • Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills.
  • Ability to file Global notifications to applicable regulatory authorities.
  • Well-versed and up to date on Global regulatory standards and reporting requirements for our portfolio of products.
  • Ability to identify any areas of concern during factory auditing and work with vendor partners on continuous improvement processes.

Qualifying Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or related program) preferred
  • 5 yrs. experience in Global Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance within Children’s and/or Toys industry required
  • 5 yrs. experience in Quality management
  • 5 yrs. experience in managing multiple time sensitive projects
  • Experience leading Global teams and developing compliance strategies across a broad range of products
  • Ability to work in a face-paced environment and works well under pressure
