Job Description

Hope For Youth has been serving children and families of Long Island for over 50 years. We are currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, Human Resources Recruiter Specialist to join our team and support the amazing employees and mission of HFY through the three Rs of recruiting, retention and rejuvenation! The HR Recruiter Specialist works on-site, mainly based in our Amityville office and is responsible for supporting all areas of Human Resources practices and objectives with a concentration on recruiting and promoting the agency's reputation as one of the best places to work in the non-profit social work sector. This HR team member specializes in not only filling the openings, but building pipelines and relationships in the community for engaging and attracting talent that meet and exceed expectations and keeping the talented employees we have at HFY. This role calls for a mission-driven, tech-savvy individual ready to innovate and elevate when it comes to finding and retaining and rewarding the best talent the human services industry has to offer. Here's some nuts and bolts, too, that you know how to do and are ready to take to a higher level and new places that our new world of work demands.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Draft job post, manage job posting on all different media channels, agency website, job boards, social media, internal and external virtual and live recruiting events.
  • Identify hiring needs and manage the full life cycle of recruitment process, developing and tracking up-to-date and compliant job descriptions.
  • Provide feedback to management after interviewing suitable candidates.
  • Schedule and coordinate interviews for managers and interviewees
  • Develop and advise on strategy and process for each hiring position, alternative and enhanced hiring techniques, trends with emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and equity.
  • Develop and implement technology and other resources to evaluate and track applicants.
  • Full understanding of business operations, talent needs and job requirements to access candidates' qualification, internal advancement opportunities and morale
  • Design materials and train hiring managers in compliant behavioral-based interview methodologies to screen in qualified candidates.
  • Complete background checks, send onboarding documents, welcome and onboard new hires, create profiles and send agency-wide announcements.
  • Manage offer negotiation process, prepare offer letters and processing documents as well as ensuring offer implementation and periodic satisfaction check-ins aimed at retention.
  • Track recruiting activity data, ensuring recruiting is accomplished in with high productivity and provides an excellent onboarding experience and beyond.
  • Ensure hiring managers compliance of recruiting procedures and processes.
  • Develop strong talent and recruiting network by using all possible recruiting channels, traditional and otherwise.
  • Support other HR and administrative functions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Human Resources, recruiting, or related work required.
  • Knowledge of labor and employment laws, especially recruiting ones.
  • Ability to work and likes to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment and meet changing needs with a sense of urgency and a "can-do" attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with employees, hiring managers and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and process-oriented with pointed follow-up.
  • Proven agility with technology and tracking, reporting, understanding and using data.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills; comfortable speaking on phone and in groups a must
  • Bilingual/Spanish writing and speaking a super plus
  • Team player and contributor
  • High school degree or GED required
  • BA degree in Human Resources a plus or 1-2 years HR recruiting experience required.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Valid NYS Driver's License in good standing
  • Access to own reliable vehicle daily
  • Non-profit work environment, especially social services, huge plus
  • Ability to be flexible with scheduling.
  • Physical Requirements: read/write reports and log entries, walking/standing for prolonged periods, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, repetitive wrist/finger movements, driving, and ongoing access to reliable vehicle and driving own vehicle for work.
