Hooker Furniture is Hiring an Industrial Engineer Near Bedford, VA
- Working with manufacturing leadership to monitor, analyze and design current and new production processes to assist in improving manufacturing process flow that will reduce material and labor production costs & time while improving quality.
- Perform time studies on manufacturing processes and equipment to determine piece rates and to assist in increasing productivity and capacity of work areas in the manufacturing plant.
- Input of BOM, routing, and configuration information in the system.
- Reviewing, analyzing, and planning work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Estimating production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Conferring with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Working with production supervisors to track, analyze and improve production material yields.
- Refining and enhancing processes by applying continuous improvement to areas of production.
- Actively seeking out and implementing cost reduction in all areas of manufacturing and other areas.
- Conferring with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
- Have a thorough understanding of manufacturing systems and processes. (Furniture industry experience a plus)
- Understand and implement continuous improvement techniques in process flow, point of use, housekeeping, and safety aspects.
- Demonstrate ability to deal with people at a cross-functional level. Position requires ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form to present information and respond to inquiries from employees, customers, and suppliers.
- Have knowledge of various software programs including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access. (AutoCAD and ERP experience a plus)
- Have B.S or A.A. degree in manufacturing or engineering discipline or comparable experience preferred.
