What will you do as the Director of Inventory Planning?POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled Director of Inventory Planning to take the helm of our Inventory Planning function, overseeing the strategic management of one of our brand's most critical assets. This role entails crafting and executing plans for optimal inventory positions across various channels to boost sales and effectively manage inventory turnover.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in shaping and leading a department, offering insights into the creation and implementation of valuable tools. A strong financial acumen and the ability to leverage numbers to enhance our inventory position are essential. Successful candidates will exhibit excellent communication skills, a holistic understanding of various business functions, a passion for problem-solving, and a keen eye for the intricacies of inventory management. We are looking for someone who constantly seeks new opportunities, uncovering efficiencies to improve processes along the way.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic inventory plans aligned with business objectives, incorporating accurate demand forecasting, and efficient stock management.
Collaboration and Optimization: Foster collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams to optimize inventory efficiency, mitigate risks, and ensure timely delivery while managing budgets effectively.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of advanced inventory management systems, proactive risk management, and a commitment to training and development for the team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning:
Build the strategy and lead the execution of item plans. Determine appropriate inventory levels by warehouse location, by channel. Manage printable blanks as never out of stock and be prepared for chase.
Lead monthly open-to-buy reporting and execute near term actions in partnership with the merchandising team to achieve sales goals and desired inventory levels.
Provide weekly business recaps on department and style performance. Include analysis on color performance, graphic productivity, size curve rebalancing, and inventory type turnover.
Re-forecast item level plans in season and perform ad-hoc analysis to identify inventory risks or opportunities. Ensure alignment with tops-down, monthly forecast and channel level goals.
Manage markdown cadence to maximize sales and margin, while meeting sell through targets on season styles.
Partner with the Wholesale team on in season opportunities to share inventory and maximize sales.
Vendor Management & Operations Collaboration:
Oversee vendor communication related to the delivery of any inventory into the HOMAGE ecosystem. This includes both internal (Operations, Planning, Merchandising & CE) and external (Blank, 3rd Party, Screen Print Vendors) communication.
Manage vendor capacity and ensure we are turning inventory appropriately, finding the right balance between hot market and core blanks. Provide regular receipt projections to vendors based on approved OTB.
Oversee the replenishment of inventory from vendor-to-DC and rebalance inventory by warehouse location. This includes managing the logistics of building trucks and owning the communication to the inbound operations team.
Provide daily unit-type forecasting in support of DC operations planning. Responsible for the accuracy of these plans and proactively communicating adjustments to the team.
Set the strategy and lead the execution of screen print production. Partner with Operations, Marketing and Customer Experience on the execution of the strategy, ensuring we maintain SLA.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with Planning, Merchandising, Production, and Store Operations.
Participate in the development of scalable planning tools, processes, and reporting and encourage sharing of best-practice to ensure consistency.
Develop direct reports to become subject matter experts while creating a team culture that aligns with HOMAGE values
What are we looking for in a Director of Inventory Planning?
Bachelors degree in business, supply chain, or other relevant fields
5 years of related experience in inventory and logistics, with management experience in fast-paced environment
Knowledge of freight forwarding and customs regulations
Proven ability to manage inventory and logistics strategy and teams
Prior experience in rapid growth environment
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Team oriented, strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and to multiple deadlines
