Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent. Some college or coursework in computer operations preferred
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable):
Pharmacy Technician Certification.
Active Maryland Registration
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Minimum of 5 years experience encompassing both Certified Pharmacy Tech and computer operations.
Must be able to do simple mathematics.
Proficient in computer software programs, including Word and Excel.
Must be able to use equipment: telephone, typewriter, calculator, computer, printers, facsimile, photocopier, Pyxis and Pyxis Connect.
Able to communicate effectively, speak, write, and comprehend English well enough to train nurses and make adjustments to workstations working with the unit staff and other pharmacy members. Frequent disruptions in work related to customer phone calls
Working Conditions:
Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
Environmental Conditions: Required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
Reporting Relationship:
Direction and oversight received from the Director, Department of Pharmacy. No supervision exercised.
Interpersonal skills necessary to assist personnel and explain departmental and hospital policies and procedures as they relate to Pyxis/narcotic operations.
Act as liaison between technicians and pharmacists as well as nursing and pharmacy.
