The Opportunity

The Center for Community Schools in the College of Community Innovation and Education (CCIE) invites applicants for a 12-month, research associate position. This is a non-tenure earning contract and grant funded position.

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Community Innovation and Education (CCIE) is a one-of-a-kind academic unit with distinct, interdisciplinary expertise and potential for partnership with community stakeholders, conceived to address societal challenges and work alongside the community. Established in 2018, the college offers undergraduate and graduate programs on the main campus and UCF Downtown. At the heart of the college's mission is the institutional commitment to transform lives and strengthen society by developing a unified vision and innovative solutions to complex social issues. CCIE promotes innovation through state-of-the-art interdisciplinary research with social impact, contemporary inclusive teaching and learning practices, and preeminent service for the disciplines, the institution, and the community.

The Center for Community Schools seeks applications for a research associate for technical assistance and evaluation. The research associate will report to the program director and with other Center for Community Schools staff in providing assistance to schools and partners across the state to plan, implement, and/or evaluate community school best practices. The research associate will also provide presentations targeted to improve community school theory and practice. The UCF Center for Community Schools serves as a comprehensive resource by providing technical assistance, university-assisted partnership, training and development, assessment and evaluation for the development of high-quality community schools. Center responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations; identifying indicators of program and student success; designing evaluations regarding student and program outcomes; compiling and reviewing evaluation findings and preparing reports for Florida's governor, legislative bodies, the Florida Department of Education, and the commissioner of education. Travel will be required.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the management of the day-to-day operations of the Center for Community Schools.
  • Manage up-to-date monitoring of all center projects to ensure ongoing strategic goals and objectives are being addressed and action steps are being implemented.
  • Provide leadership and management for the center's operations team, as well as information, consultation, and direction on how to plan, develop and implement community school projects throughout Florida and beyond in the areas of technical assistance and assessment and evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master's degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
  • Candidate must have research and/or evaluation experience in a related field.
  • Supervisory and/or collaborative leadership experience in related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience evaluating educational programs, community schools, and/or K-12 schools with youth from marginalized/low resourced communities.
  • Technical assistance and/or training experience in a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in data collection, synthesis and analysis, presentation in charts and tables, and/or description of findings in written format.
  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Education, Public Administration, Social Work, Research, or a related field.
