Position Summary

The Assembly Manager is responsible for coordinating all of the work within all assembly value streams. This includes working across the plant in a team effort with Machining, Maintenance, Engineering, Human Resources, Finance, etc. to ensure the success of assembly performance daily.

Job Responsibilities

• Insure that all employees are trained and comply with all safety and housekeeping standards of the plant on a consistent daily basis.
• Lead and manage value stream team leaders within assembly. Grow & Develop.
• Lead operators in assembly value streams for success of the plant
• Work to meet daily production goals to reduce or eliminate overtime
• Insure that all product produced in the assembly value streams meets the quality requirements of our customers consistently.
• Plan and execute all training required to enhance the skills and competency of all employees within the assembly value streams. Insure cross training of all positions and tracked to plant standards.
• Share clear expectations with the operators and hold them accountable after consulting with the Plant Manager.
• Provide leadership for all aspects of the assembly operations through Continuous Improvements. Support & Lead Kaizen Events around assembly value stream performance improvements.
• Interpret specifications, work instructions, BOM’s, and job orders to operators, and assign duties.
• Insure production is reported accurately, maintain accurate inventory, and resolve negatives daily.
• Work with the plant manager to insure adequate staffing levels in the business unit to efficiently meet customer requirements.
• Responsible for production scheduling to insure customer requirements are efficiently met. Resolve any conflicts with other areas.
• Seek approval, advice, or support from Plant Manager on all matters affecting the policy of the Company.
• Keep the Plant Manager informed at all times on all matters in regards to the floor activities and management of the business unit.
• Maintain time and production records.
• Support ISO audit preparation and compliance.
• Lead Housekeeping in all assembly value streams and insure that all employees do daily cleaning as assigned to keep work area clean, organized and safe.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, manufacturing, or engineering.
• Knowledge in Six Sigma & DMAIC problem solving.
• Experience in establishing and leading Kaizen Events with a proven record of results.
• Strong Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Experience with Shop Floor Management System & Implementation.
• Must have strong team building skills & able to work across all plant functions for results.
• Five (5-10) years of manufacturing experience including leading diverse work team.
