Job Description


Manager, Facilities Maintenance - Fairbanks, Alaska

Our Fairbanks team is currently seeking a Manager, Facilities Maintenance. This position is responsible for the oversight of maintenance and technical operations of Westmark Fairbanks Hotel & Conference Center. This includes the facility and neighbouring property owned by Holland America.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages hotel maintenance activities on a daily basis.
  • Outlines and manages LMMS system and safety training for FT and seasonal team
  • Applies knowledge of equipment, systems and facilities maintenance to include water system compliance, carpentry, HVAC, mechanical and groundskeeping and provide guidance to team
  • Assists in the preparation of and manages annual and monthly departmental budget
  • Oversees the maintenance tasks, including but not limited to, daily maintenance requests, HESS & SAY initiatives, and the Preventative maintenance program. Provides recommendations for capital improvements.
  • Partners with other departments to ensure equipment is functioning in a safe manner.
  • Leads and manages team within expectations and goals of department and hotel operations. Provides regular training to team members in line with HAP guidelines.
  • Schedules and maintains vendor relations for required preventative maintenance and inspections.
  • Participates in daily/weekly Manager on Duty program
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma required. This job normally requires a professional level of knowledge in facilities maintenance management equivalent to that which would be acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree. Demonstration of directly related work experience, which has provided an equivalent breadth, and depth of knowledge may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement.
  • Licensed in carpentry, electrical, mechanical plumbing or HVAC preferred.
  • Experience with managing union team member preferred.
  • 4 years progressively responsible positions in hotel property or facilities maintenance.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in a business environment.
  • Must have a current and valid AK driver’s license. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be requested.
  • Dedicated to delivering excellent customer service to all guests, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time, but able to move throughout PCL and HAL facilities on a regular basis. May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including working beyond normal business hours and/or on weekends occasionally to support business needs, projects or operations. Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds. Bending, squatting, kneeling and cross-body lifting may be required.
  • Must pass an pre-employment background check. Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background verification.
  • Must be authorized to legally work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).

  • Proficiency in the use of computer applications (Microsoft platforms).
  • The ability to prioritize work, support time constraints, meet deadlines, supervise and lead team and work with guest requests/inquiries.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees, management, and guests.
  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • The ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including health and safety standards.
  • Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for minimum of 8 hours per day.
