Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Assists the management team in accomplishing goals related to recruitment, screening, training, placement and supervision of volunteers;
Ensure that volunteers are appreciated and have opportunities for feedback;
Maintain organized program record keeping
Help withscheduling and provide regular orientations and trainings for interested volunteer applicants
Match volunteers with agency needs or customized volunteer projects
Maintain a database for tracking/tallying volunteer hours, job preferences, and contact information
Helps implement a sustainable plan for on-going recruitment, developing regular contacts at local colleges, high schools, local businesses, and community groups and organizations
Arrange for volunteer information to be available at all tabling, community events, and speaking engagements
Conduct review of volunteers’ performance and interest in additional/alternative placements
Maintain a file for each volunteer that includes a signed volunteer application, timesheets, training records, referrals, verification of criminal background check, and verification of TB test result
Assist insupervising general agency volunteer pool and their work
Assist in the recruitment, placement, and supervision of day-of-event volunteers for agency events
Support implementation of program/volunteer equity goals
Track data necessary to monitor progress toward equity goals and to identify disparities in volunteer engagement
Support collection of volunteer feedback on a regular basis and using that feedback to make program improvements
Ensure that volunteer concerns related to equity are addressed
Ensure that policies and procedures and consistently applied
Provide volunteer with opportunities to share input related to program equity goals
Other duties as defined by Director
Required Qualifications
Extensive personal volunteer experience (prefer 5 years)
1 year’s minimum staff or volunteer supervision experience
Preferred Qualifications
Strong professional boundaries and ethics
Excellent time management skills
A commitment to the agency’s mission of HIV prevention, advocacy, care, and education
Knowledge of HIV disease prevention and services or willingness to learn
Strong interview skills; ability to extract skills and personal information, background and experience and assess appropriateness to placements requested
Basic computer skills, particularly database management
Skillful and comfortable with public speaking
Sensitive to issues of confidentiality and diversity
Excellent record keeping and organizational skills
Excellent written and oral communication
Team player who is self-motivated, high-energy, enthusiastic
Valid Oregon driver’s license, driving record sufficient to be covered by agency auto insurance policy, ability to transport self to job-related events and education locations
TB test (provided at agency)
Flexible hours required, including some evenings and weekends
Ability to pass agency criminal background check
