Description
The Area Construction Manager (ACM) is an expert in the area of Residential Construction, and provides guidance, troubleshoots, and answers questions related to this area of expertise. The focus in this position is strategic.
The Area Construction Manager will assist the Vice President of Construction in managing and leading a professional team of Field Managers. The ACM’s primary job responsibility is to ensure that all Field Managers and trades are meeting the company’s mission, values, goals and standards in addition to assuring our customer satisfaction. This will be accomplished through constant review of the Field Managers’ construction practices and the subdivisions in which they are building.
Requirements
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, and other duties may be assigned)
· Engages and mentors Field Managers in their region
· Manages trade partner resources within the ACM’s region; participates with Internal Operations in identifying new trades as appropriate
· Participates in the hiring, training and development of Field Managers
· Manages resources to ensure achievement of regional and company start and closings goals
· Supports Field Managers in the execution of all Field Manager responsibilities
· Ensures Field Mangers follow the published job schedule templates as required to meet deliverables and deadlines
· Collaborates directly with Area Sales Managers to solve Customer and community issues
· Collaborate with other departments in achieving company goals and core values
· Ensures quality standards and use of proper construction techniques are met on every customer delivery; includes completing quality inspections to ensure compliance
· Participates in weekly starts and closing meetings; comes prepared with specific knowledge of the construction status of all subject homes within the region.
· Review and resolve budget variances monthly to ensure variance goals are met
· Ensures community presentation standards are maintained daily
· Has knowledge of and directs appropriate construction methods and strategies
· Interpret and explain technical information to Field Managers, trades and other professionals
· Report on work progress, Field Manager construction status, and budget matters addressing deficiencies as appropriate
· Ensure company compliance with legal requirements, building and safety codes, and other regulations
· Ensures storm water compliance in all communities
· Analyze, manage and mitigate risks; plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four year college or university; MINIMUM OF THREE YEARS EXPERIENCE MANAGING A REGION WITH SIX OR MORE FIELD MANAGERS, AND 300 HOMES ANNUALLY.
Licenses, Certifications, Other Requirements:
Valid Texas Driver’s License, Personal Insurance Liability Policy with Limits of 100/100/100. Must pass yearly DMV background check and provide renewal auto insurance certificate.
