Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Policy Research Analyst to join our team! In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Policy Research and conduct research, analysis, and writing in support of HAF’s policy and advocacy teams on a range of public policy issues, both foreign and domestic, including hate crimes, education, healthcare, social justice, immigration, human rights, and national security. This is a full-time exempt role.

We are looking for a professional who wants to make a difference and contribute to HAF’s mission in the field of advocacy and public policy. The successful candidate will be able to perform the following duties with or without reasonable accommodations:

• Research and analyze local, state, and federal legislation and policy topics to strategize policy priorities;
• Utilize existing software platforms to track, collate, and analyze key local, state, and federal policy trends, issues, and legislation relevant to the Hindu American community.
• Provide research, writing, analysis, and proofreading support for the creation of policy briefs, fact sheets, reports, articles, and other documents.
• Draft communications and action alerts for advocacy campaigns.
• Provide logistical support as needed for policy events, webinars, briefings, and stakeholder meetings and outreach.
• Extract, collect and aggregate data across databases, information sources, survey responses, and other data sources; ensures data quality; clean existing data for consistency and accuracy.
• Develop data visualizations for diverse audiences.
• Prepare reports, charts, and/or graphs for briefs and presentations.

Required Education and Experience:

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and is comfortable being an external-facing presence.

• Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences and/or analytics, including but not limited to Policy, Government, International Relations, Statistics, Data Analytics, Religion, History, Anthropology, Humanities, South Asian Studies, or Education required
• 1-3 years work experience in a position involving policy research, writing, or data analysis required
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
• Demonstrated data literacy skills, including understanding of data sources, strong grasp of analytical methods, and ability to communicate data driven insights
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Organized and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Fluency in platforms such as Google Workspace, Asana, Slack, Zoom, Power Point, etc.
• Knowledge of data analytical and/or GIS software preferred
• Working knowledge of South Asia, India, Indic languages, or the Hindu diaspora preferred but not required.
• Works well in a close-knit team environment, but can complete tasks independently when necessary

• Drive a vehicle, whether owned or rented.
