Hill International is Hiring a Lead Environmental Engineer Near Philadelphia, PA

Hill International is seeking a Lead Environmental Engineer to travel internationally for a disaster recovery assignment

An environmental engineer is responsible for developing and implementing sustainable solutions to environmental problems. They work to protect and preserve the environment by applying engineering principles, techniques, and practices. Environmental engineers analyze, design, and evaluate various projects and initiatives related to air and water quality, waste management, and environmental impact assessments. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, government agencies, and communities to address environmental challenges and promote eco-friendly practices.

  • Environmental Assessments: Conduct comprehensive environmental impact assessments (EIAs) to evaluate the potential effects of projects on the environment. Assess factors such as air and water quality, soil composition, and wildlife habitats.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Stay updated on environmental laws and regulations, and adapt engineering practices accordingly.
  • Pollution Control: Devise strategies to control and mitigate pollution from various sources, including industrial processes, transportation, and waste disposal. Implement pollution control technologies and techniques.
  • Water and Wastewater Management: Design and optimize systems for water supply, distribution, and wastewater treatment. Develop sustainable solutions for water conservation and purification.
  • Waste Management: Develop waste management plans for industries and municipalities. Promote recycling, composting, and waste-to-energy technologies to reduce landfill usage and environmental impact.
  • Renewable Energy Projects: Work on renewable energy initiatives such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric projects. Evaluate their environmental impact and assist in their design and implementation.
  • Site Remediation: Develop remediation plans for contaminated sites. Coordinate cleanup efforts, assess risks, and recommend appropriate remediation techniques.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze environmental data using specialized software and tools. Interpret results and prepare reports detailing findings and recommendations.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with communities, stakeholders, and government bodies to raise awareness about environmental issues. Engage in public outreach programs and educational initiatives.
  • Research and Development: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and research in the field of environmental engineering. Contribute to research projects aimed at advancing environmental conservation and sustainable practices.
  • Project Management: Manage environmental engineering projects from inception to completion. Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other professionals to ensure projects are executed according to specifications and within budget constraints.
  • Must be willing to travel internationally for months at a time.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Must be willing to receive required vaccinations including the Covid vaccine.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Proficiency in engineering software for environmental modeling and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

Work Environment:

  • Office settings, laboratories, and at project sites. Will have requirement to travel frequently to conduct site visits, meet with clients, and collaborate with stakeholders. The job may involve occasional exposure to outdoor, construction and disaster environments.
