Highbrook Motel is Hiring a Front Desk Near Bar Harbor, ME

The Highbrook Motel is currently taking applications for Front Desk staff for the 2024 season (May 17 - October 20). This is a daytime position from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Part-time or full-time. Competitive pay plus end of season bonus.

*Off-site housing in Downtown Bar Harbor available for the right candidate*

Your primary duty is to assist guests with reservations and requests. You’ll also be responsible for a variety of tasks that help make for an exceptional guest experience. The ideal candidate will be able to focus on ensuring our guests are well taken care of. Look for problems before they arise, pay attention to details and provide excellent customer service.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones.
  • Take reservations, rent rooms and respond to guest requests.
  • Assist guests by phone, text, email and in-person.
  • Answer questions about the local area and the property.
  • Run reports and reconcile reservations as directed.
  • Log lost and found items.
  • Re-stock lobby and supply areas as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Report problems to management in a timely manner.
  • Assist with laundry, food prep (light baking) and providing supplies to guests.
  • Assist with other jobs outside of the job description as needed.
  • Secure staff and public areas at end of shift.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to find appropriate answers/solutions to guest requests.
  • Ability to work independently but as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and complete duties despite interruptions.
  • Ability to perform all tasks with attention to detail and to company standards.
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures when assisting with kitchen and laundry tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and in a professional manner.
  • Computer skills.
  • Time management.
  • Customer service.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to speak fluent English.
  • Must be neat, courteous, flexible and detail oriented.
  • Must be good with computers and phones.
  • Knowledge of the local area is helpful.

Experience:

  • 1 year – Hotel/Motel Front Desk or Innkeeping (Preferred)
  • 1 year – Customer Service (Preferred)

Physical Demands:

This job requires periods of walking, standing, bending, squatting, lifting, twisting, kneeling, climbing stairs. Occasional lifting of up to 30lbs. 30 lbs. to be handled with additional person.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week
