EDM MACHINE OPERATOR I

SUMMARY

This entry level position is responsible for set up, operation and tending to EDM machines under the direction and leadership of the EDM supervisor. This position is required to comply with all Hi Tech Honeycomb safety protocols at all times to successfully complete daily tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the EDM Supervisor, the duties of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

• Understand and execute Hi Tech Honeycomb’s Quality Policy, System Procedures and Operations Manuals.
• Operate Hi Tech Honeycomb’s EDM’s machines under supervision of a Lead Operator or higher position (training record must be available).
• Load and unload honeycomb into and out of holding fixtures (training record must be available).
• Install new wire coil on any of the wire EDM’s (training record must be available).
• Control paperwork and honeycomb coming in and out of EDM area.
• Review traveler form for completeness before starting a job.
• Complete all dimensional information required by the traveler operation before sending parts to another workstation.
• Report any discrepancies (part shortage, quality issues, paperwork problems) to a lead operator or supervisor before moving any parts to another workstation.
• Perform in-process inspection:

• Before and after taper of honeycomb, check for width, length, height; weld location and visual for quality.
• 100% inspection on taper dimensions according to HTH drawing for height, using caliper, protractor and inspection gages.
• Complete all minor daily maintenance on EDM’s (training record must be available).
• Clean holding fixtures before placing them in storage.
• Clean EDM area after each job and at the end of the shift.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Manufacturing experience is desired, but not required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math; ability to measure with a caliper, measure angle with protractor and use inspection gages is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Basic English comprehension, reading and writing is required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions; ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables is required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be able to read standard Traveler form and supplemental documents to perform regular duties as required of this and sequential duties and positions; ability to utilize specialized tools to measure and confirm tolerances is required.
