Heunets is Hiring a Desktop Support Technician II Near Madison, WI

Skillsets required:

  • Desktop Support: Technical assistance provided to computer users. Resolving trouble tickets, managing incidents, and documenting solutions.
  • Azure: A cloud computing platform that offers a range of services for computing, storage, and networking.
  • SharePoint: A web-based collaboration and document management platform.
  • PowerShell: Familiarity with scripting tools like PowerShell is important for managing and organizing customer data.
  • Operating Systems: Ability to work with various operating systems like Windows XP, Linux, and cloud computing platforms like Amazon Web Services.
  • Database Management: Experience with database management for crucial data conversion and database migration.
  • Software Development: Experience with software development for software customization or reengineering to fit the new environment.
  • Cloud Computing: Knowledge of cloud computing or AI technologies is beneficial.
  • Project Management Skills: Experience with effective resource management, risk identification and management, and progress monitoring.
  • Along with soft skills like excellent customer service, teamwork, ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, critical thinking, and strong problem-solving skills.

PC Migration:

  • Preparation and Assessment:
  • Collaborate with HCL department heads or project managers to understand the scope of the migration.
  • Assess the existing hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
  • Identify potential challenges (e.g., legacy applications, compatibility issues).
  • Planning and Documentation:
  • Create a detailed project plan that outlines tasks, timelines, and responsibilities.
  • Document the current state of each PC (hardware specifications, installed software, user profiles).
  • Determine the migration strategy (in-place upgrade, clean install, or data migration).
  • Communication and User Training:
  • Inform end-users about the upcoming migration.
  • Schedule training sessions to familiarize users with the new system (if required by the client and as per client instructions)*
  • Address any concerns or questions from users.
  • Data Backup and Migration:
  • Back up user data (documents, settings, profiles) to a secure location.
  • Migrate user profiles, applications, and data to the target PCs.
  • Test the migration process on a small scale before rolling it out widely.
  • Software Installation and Configuration:
  • Install the necessary operating system and software on the target PCs.
  • Configure network settings, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Ensure proper licensing for all software.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance:
  • Verify that all applications work as expected on the new PCs.
  • Test network connectivity, security settings, and user access.
  • Address any issues promptly.
  • Deployment and Post-Migration Support:
  • Deploy the new PCs to end-users.
  • Provide on-site or remote support during the transition.
  • Assist users with any post-migration issues (missing files, application settings, etc.).
  • Documentation and Lessons Learned:
  • Update documentation to reflect the changes (new system configurations, troubleshooting steps).
  • Conduct a post-mortem meeting to discuss what went well and areas for improvement.

Job Types: Contract, Temporary

Pay: $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
