Herb Thai, is a 45 seat, Prix-Fixe and A la Carte, long time establishment, that is humbly owned and run by Chicago known, Nationally recognized, Food Network Winner and Chicago Eater rated Executive Chef Patty Neumson.

Humbly and bravely, Patty is reinventing Herb and innovating the way upscale Thai cuisine is presented and elevated for all diners…as a Four Region Thai cuisine tasting experience across their distinct flavors, ingredients and health advantages within a four season itinerary and rotation.

 Your personal interactions and knowledge sharing would help patrons enjoy the wonderful and flavorful combinations of fresh, distinct herbs and ingredients that give the palette an adventure to remember and a health-oriented mindset to lean into.

We are looking for ‘Delight minded’ conscientious servers who have the following perspectives and experiences.

1. “Food as Medicine” curious
2. Confident and effective speaker and communicator
3. Comfortable speaking and interacting with confident, intelligent and curious foodies as well as diners who are experiencing fine dining for the first time.
4. You see yourself as an educator, while providing excellent, nicely paced, personable service.
5. At least 1 year’s customer-facing work experience. Previous, fine-dining server/waiter/waitress experience is ideal, but not required. Passion for service offsets.
6. Comfortable using handheld payment and information devices
7. Fluency in Thai a plus, not required. Multiple languages welcome.

Additional benefits and perks include:

• Current work schedule is Friday and Saturday, 5 PM to 10 PM, with occasional opportunities to work Sundays for monthly Chef’s tastings and other events.
• You are guaranteed $20 an hour, working 5 hours a day. You share in 40% of the house tips leading up to $40 an hour.
• As new staff is hired and can support additional days and lunch service/home delivery meal prep. Work hours will get to 5 days a week, Wednesday to Sunday.
• Paid time Off of 1 hour per every 40 hours worked.

Your responsibilities would include:

• Presenting a welcoming, positive yet professional attitude to each and every guest.
• Clean, dining professional clothing with provided server coat
• Arriving to work on time.
• Listening, understanding and note taking for each diner’s order
• Fast paced service of water, drinks, food dishes and tray delivery, refills and occasional table bussing for all diners.
• Immediately sharing needs or challenges to Manager in an urgent, safe, articulated manner
• Thanking all customers for coming, asking for feedback on their experience, and ensuring their contact and follow-up information is entered and noted into our Customer Service System.
• Helping to clean up the dining room after service has ended and helping to set it up for the next day.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Ability to be flexible with job demands and open minded when being asked to complete tasks 
• Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the restaurant 
• Ability to handle stress under pressure 
• Ability to move or handle equipment throughout the restaurant generally weighing 0-50 pounds 
• Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates 
• Ability to stand for up to 8-10 hours a day
