Hennepin County is Hiring an IT Administrator (Internal Hennepin County applicants only) Near UNKNOWN, MN

Description

We are seeking an IT Administrator to join our Operations BIO area. In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining the continuous operation of county servers, networks, databases workstations, networks, and peripherals in support of our internal customers. The IT Administrator will also facilitate the management, maintenance, and evolution of existing software/hardware to identify, recommend, integrate, and support cost-effective administrative application solutions for the organization. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain working relationships with diverse co-workers, vendors, and customers.
Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at 701 fourth Avenue South, Suite 650 Minneapolis, MN 55415, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., along with after hours on call support. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

About the position:

This is a full-time, benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of Hennepin County to apply for this position. Limited duration employees are not eligible.
This position is internally classified as an Information Technology (IT) Administrator.

This position is eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to
$1,941.87 that can be earned annually based on performance.

In this position, you will:
  • Ensure consistent performance of critical systems through development of policies, guidelines, processes, and security roles.
  • Serve as a primary technical contact to county departments for support issues around facility management, building automation, lighting, parking, and solar systems.
  • Provide insight, expertise, technical vision, recommendations, and leadership for maintenance, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
  • Support the timely development of tools, reports, functions, and other features as requested by management that result in improved functionality and user experience.
  • Research new technologies and industry trends and provide recommendations.
  • Assist in the development and enforce technical standards and interface tools including the development of appropriate systems models (such as network diagrams, data models, etc.).
  • Coordinate vendor relationships and/or contracts, ensuring vendors adhere to county policies, standards, and regulations while working on county systems, and overseeing vendor performance to ensure deliverables meet quality and compliance requirements.
Need to have:
  • One of the following:
    • Four years or more of information technology experience.
    • Associate/vocational/technical degree in an information technology field and two years or more of experience in information technology.
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science/engineering or a related information technology field.
Nice to have:
  • Experience:
    • Administering 24/7 enterprise-wide facility services applications and systems.
    • Managing building automation technologies (Routers, BACNet/IP communication controllers, bridges, hubs, sensors, switches, converters, panels, etc.).
    • Managing application and system integrations (interconnected processes and data exchanges).
    • Managing and maintaining network, server, and workstation security.
    • With vendor management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service and experience building effective collaborative relationships with all organizational levels of business and technical staff.
