Duties and Responsibilities: This position Oversees daily operations of the Finance Department; supervises Finance Department staff; assists in planning, directing, and supervising receipt, disbursement, and accounting of County revenues and expenditures; assists in the preparation of the annual audit, annual budget, and year-end reports. This position also Performs difficult administrative, fiscal control, and supervisory duties in the Henderson County Finance Department; performs related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision. Exercises limited supervision of the Finance Department staff. Reports to the Finance Director.
Qualifications: Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of modern government accounting; comprehensive knowledge of the fiscal policies and statutory requirements governing county funds; thorough knowledge of the organization and functions of county government; ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of others; ability to exercise sound judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions involving a variety of fiscal and business management areas; ability to operate common office machines and computer required by the position; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; ability to attend work regularly.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to; bachelor’s in accounting, finance, or business administration, or related field, four (4) or more years of increasingly responsible professional accounting experience, and one (1) or more years of supervisory experience.
Preference will be given to individuals with active CPA licensure and/or Master of accountancy, business administration or a related field.
Pre-employment drug test, background and credit checks required of finalist applicants.
