SUMMARY

The staff accountant and accounts payable specialist is responsible for the day to day accounts payable functions including processing and payment of invoices in a fast paced, high volume environment. Responsibilities also include, providing services in an effective and efficient manner in order to ensure that finances are accurate and up to date, representative offices expenses and that suppliers are paid with established time limits.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Core Duties

  1. Responsible for processing all vendor transactions in the Bank’s systems.
  2. Assists with monthly close processes for various accounts such as: prepaids, fixed assets, representative office expense reports.
  3. Receives and verifies invoices and requisitions for goods and services. Handles all vendor correspondence via regular mail, email or in person.
  4. Maintains vendor files per policy and liaises with Vendor Management.
  5. Prepares ACH batches, Wire Transfers and checks of invoices for payment.
  6. Processes all employee expense reports within policy.
  7. Prepares 1099’s for vendors and shareholders and any end of year filings.
  8. Maintains expense report for representative offices.
  9. Support the CFO and the AVP - Accounting and Finance with the tasks and duties assigned to the department as applicable to the Strategic Plan
  10. Assists with the implementation and development of FDICIA Controls and related assignments.
  11. Assists with any special projects or tasks as needed.

Regulatory 

  1. Verifies that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures.
  2. Prepares and submit financial regulatory reports.

COMPETENCIES

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following: 

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of banking experience, customer service and general banking experience.
  • Must be bilingual in both English and Spanish. Ability to fluently speak, understand, read and write both languages.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
