HEB is Hiring a Manager Regional Claims Near San Antonio, TX
Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities include the following; (other duties may be assigned as necessary)
- Communicates and monitors claim handling procedures
- Assesses policies and procedures and makes recommendations for changes as required by workflow processes
- Reviews, monitors and provides technical expertise to the Risk Solutions staff to ensure proper adherence to the company standards and procedures
- Reviews and evaluates the workloads based on system reports and assigns the files and locations accordingly
- Works on a diary system and audits files for accuracy and compliance to policies and procedures
- Reviews and approves payments on claims within approved Authority Guidelines
- Reviews all settled claims and documents the file for each settlement check requested
- Addresses customer concerns and initiates resolution as merited by the circumstances
- Serves as the first contact for partners who are considering an appeal of a coverage decision under the Work Injury Benefit Plan
- Addresses developmental opportunities and offers/provides necessary training
- Assists the Risk Solutions Representatives with litigation case management and provides guidance in the communication with defense attorneys and operational leadership
- Serves as liaison and represents the Risk Solutions Department in the operational area meetings when necessary
- Analyzes and evaluates assigned areas and provides activity reports to document findings
- Management of safety issues for the assigned region along with the Risk Solutions Representatives
- Escalation point of contact for Work Injury, Return to Work, and General Liability cases
- Regional subject-matter expert for Risk Solutions areas of accountability
- Provide trend analysis to divisional leads in efforts to assist in regional strategic planning
- Acts as liaison with excess insurance carriers
- Maintains contact with carrier on open claims for review of appropriate reserving
- Provides pre-trial reports as requested
- Liaison with Pharmacy Leadership on claims and reporting; part of the TSBP peer review for H-E-B; reports cases to TSBP as required by state guidelines
- Reviews and provides guidance for handling Subrogation and Indemnification claims
Preferred Education and Experience
- A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
- 5 years of claims experience
- 5 years of supervisory experience
- Current 'All Lines' Texas adjusters license
- Training experience (preferred)
- Working knowledge and understanding of medical and legal terminology
- Advanced negotiating and influencing skills
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Intermediate PC skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between projects / tasks; attention to detail
- Ability to work complex issues with senior management
- Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment
- Travel by car or plane with overnight stays
- Work extended hours; sit for extended periods
- Valid Texas driver’s license
