YHDP Navigation Team Peer Support Specialist provides peer support services, through their own lived experience, to homeless young adults, and / or young adults at risk of homelessness, in the effort to provide support and guidance.

Will provide direct peer support to youth served by the YHDP Navigation Team to ensure responsive housing supports are quickly accessed for youth in need throughout the six-county service area.

Attends the regular YHDP YAB Meeting, and other relevant YHDP meetings, to liaise, and to advocate for young adults experiencing homelessness in the broader community.

Participates in planning and implementation committees of youth homeless system.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED :

• Provides peer support services, through their own lived experience, to homeless young adults, and / or young adults at risk of homelessness, in the effort to provide support and guidance
• Provides direct peer support to YHDP youth being served by the Navigation Team to ensure responsive housing supports are quickly accessed for young adults in need throughout the six-county service area
• Attends the regular YHDP YAB Meeting, and other relevant YHDP meetings, to liaise with YAB members and YHDP leaders, and to advocate for young adults experiencing homelessness in the broader community
• Utilizes lived experience to support youth homeless system program and system planning and implementation work including participation in planning and implementation meetings and committees.
• Works with youth and their families in mental health, home, community and / or office settings
• Complete all documentation in an accurate and timely manner as shown on management reports.
• Performs other related duties as required

Knowledge, Skills, and Essential Functions

• Excellent written communication and computer keyboarding for inputting clinical documentation
• Excellent verbal communication with clients, staff, and community providers
• Time management required to meet service goals
• Local travel using Center vehicle
• Ability to be CPR and PMAB certified
• Valid driver's license and liability insurance required

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED Required
• Lived homelessness experience Required

Hours : Fulltime

Salary : $27,040 Annually / $13.00 Hourly
