Health Management Associates is Hiring a Remote Senior Business Development Consultant - Encounter Data Submissions

Overview

Cirdan Health Systems and Consulting, an HMA company, is seeking a Senior Business Development Consultant. This search is being conducted on a national basis with a strong preference for this hire to be within driving distance of St. Paul, MN.

Job Summary

The Senior Business Development Consultant -Encounter Data Submissions (BD Consultant) leads the effort to sell submission services to new CMS and Medicaid Encounter Data Submission Clients. The BD Consultant has primary responsibility for identifying potential purchasers, and then creating opportunities for sales. This includes generating contacts, conducting initial presentations and demonstrations, supporting sales efforts through the contracting process, and maintaining relationships with clients from start to finish and beyond. The BD Consultant would also sell projects that would have potential to lead to future encounter data submission sales.

Responsibilities

Work Performed and Job Requirements

  • Source and identify Encounter Data Submission sales opportunities as well as opportunities to do consulting work related to Encounter Data such as evaluation of current processes and results.
  • Initiate contacts with prospective clients and building pipeline.
  • Manage prospective customers through the sales cycle from initial outreach through contract execution.
  • Lead efforts and collaborate with the HMA proposal team to respond to any proposals for Encounter Data Services that are competitively procured.
  • Lead contracting efforts for Encounter Data submissions and related projects.
  • Track competitor activity and capabilities.
  • Support relationship building with key client staff through implementation, go-live and beyond.
  • Maintain relationships with client executives following sales.
  • Maintain relevant pitch materials, including pitch decks and website pages.
  • Work with HMA marketing staff on materials to support sales.
  • Create visibility and awareness of Cirdan’s encounter data submissions and capabilities through social media.
  • Attend and present at pertinent industry conferences, trade shows and other functions to benefit the organization and grow the pipeline of business development opportunities.
  • Meet budgeted sales targets.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is preferred, ideally with significant coursework in communication and/or sales.

Experience

A minimum of 4 years of sales experience selling technical solutions and/or services to the health industry required. Experience selling to health plan/payer market and experience working with Encounter Data Submission or risk adjustment solution sales preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated high collaborative IQ.
  • Demonstrated history of sales success of technical solutions and/or services.
  • Excellent negotiating abilities, especially with complex contracts.
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain executive relationships.
  • Ability to deliver high quality, polished sales presentations.
  • Ability to plan and manage sales processes.
  • Ability to lead collaborative development of sales and marketing collateral materials.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including proficiency with Teams and Zoom presentations.
  • Ability to manage a process to capture and leverage information about competitors.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Power Point.

Work Aids and Equipment Used

Computer, printer, copier, scanner, fax, telephone, web conferencing.

Working Conditions

Work will be a combination of remote, in office and travel. Work may be stressful at times. Some travel required if client/prospect preference is for in-person meetings and for attendance at conferences and events.

Physical/Mental Demands

Work requires hand dexterity for office machine operation; stooping, climbing, and bending to files and supplies; mobility to complete errands; stand/sit for up to eight hours each day; ability to communicate clearly when using the telephone; requires sitting; standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and twisting at times; moderate levels of stress.
