Health and Justice Recovery Alliance is Hiring a Substance Use Disorder Professional Near Spokane, WA

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Substance Use Disorder Professional to join our team. As part of Health & Justice Recovery Alliance’s Behavioral Health program, this position is responsible for conducting substance use disorder assessments and interpret results. The position is also responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating substance use disorder treatment plans for clients who are struggling with substance use disorders.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct professional assessments and interpret results. Includes obtaining personal social, emotional, and substance use history, determining cause, nature and severity of the client’s current mental status.

- Develop and implement goal-oriented treatment plans based on client history, clinical experience, and research. Involves collaborating with multiple community agencies and individual professionals.

- Review and evaluate clients’ progress in relation to measurable goals described in treatment plans. Modify treatment plans to comply with changes in client status when required.

- Provide direct treatment services such as individual and group therapy to difficult and complex client populations. Intervene in crisis situations when a client exhibits symptoms that present an immediate threat to others.

- Complete and maintain accurate records and reports regarding patient histories and progress, services provided, and all other aspects of care as required by clinical guidelines.

- Provide clients and family members with information about addiction issues and available services or programs, making appropriate referrals when necessary.

- Participate in staff review of cases; recommend changes in counseling techniques, environment, and/or record keeping to facilitate patient recovery.

- Attend internal and external meetings, seminars, and any trainings required to maintain licenses/certifications.

- Perform all other duties as necessary or as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor.

- Conduct patient assessments to determine the severity of substance use disorders

- Develop personalized treatment plans based on individual needs and goals

- Provide evidence-based counseling using techniques

- Offer crisis intervention services as needed to address immediate concerns

- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients

- Utilize case management skills to connect patients with community resources and support

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards

- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly

- Collect data for research purposes and contribute to program evaluation efforts

Skills:

- In-depth knowledge of substance abuse disorders, treatment modalities, and recovery principles

- Proficiency in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based therapeutic techniques

- Experience in child family counseling, providing support to both individuals struggling with substance abuse and their families

- Strong ability to document patient information accurately and maintain confidentiality

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective patient interaction and collaboration with other healthcare professionals

- Ability to provide crisis intervention services in a calm and compassionate manner

- Strong organizational skills for managing case load and maintaining accurate records

- Knowledge of clinical counseling practices and ethical guidelines

- Proficient in patient assessment techniques to identify appropriate treatment approaches

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • An AA degree in Addictions Counseling
  • OR a Bachelor’s degree in a Social Science field to include the required classes in Addictions Counseling
  • A minimum of one (1) year or more paid experience as a Substance Use Disorder Professional
  • OR and equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with perinatal women, pregnant individuals, women with young children
  • Current driver’s license/insurance
  • Trauma Informed-Healing Centered Engagement Experience.
  • Willing to be certified in CPR Training, Cultural Competency Training
  • We follow guidelines regarding prohibited substances, even those legal at the state level.

Certificates/Licenses:

  • Certified as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) by the Washington State Department of Health.
  • Someone who is certified as a Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT) may be considered, if they are close to finishing hours and qualify for testing to be fully licensed/certified.
