HC West LLC. is Hiring a Fire Sprinkler Helper Near San Diego, CA

The Hiller Companies, a national leader in the fire protection and security industry, is accepting applications for Fire Sprinkler Trainees.

Pay Range: $17.92 - $22.40 per hour

Job Summary: A fire sprinkler Trainee works under direct supervision of senior technicians in the installation of fire sprinkler systems. Their goal is to gain essential knowledge to enroll in the apprenticeship program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation of fire sprinkler systems:
    • Handle tools and equipment under supervision.
    • Measure, cut, and thread pipes according to specifications.
    • Assist in the assembly and installation of pipes, valves, and fittings.
    • Support the mounting and positioning of sprinkler heads.
  • Collaborate with installation team:
    • Work closely with senior technicians to ensure efficient installation processes.
    • Follow instructions and guidelines provided by the team.
    • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks.
  • Conduct pre-installation preparations:
    • Assist in reviewing blueprints and system designs.
    • Prepare the work area by clearing obstacles and ensuring accessibility.
    • Help gather necessary tools, materials, and equipment for the installation.
  • Follow safety guidelines and regulations:
    • Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Comply with industry standards and local fire codes during installations.
    • Report any safety concerns or incidents to senior technicians.
  • Learn and develop technical skills:
    • Actively engage in training sessions and workshops related to fire sprinkler installation.
    • Familiarize yourself with different types of fire sprinkler systems and their components.
    • Seek guidance from senior team members to enhance your knowledge and skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Licensure & Certifications:

  • Valid CalFire Registered Trainee Card
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a fire protection or plumbing vocational program is preferred.


Experience:

  • No experience required
  • Mechanical aptitude desired

Technical Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of construction is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools commonly used in the industry.

Physical Stamina:

  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work at heights and in various weather conditions.

Attention to Detail:

  • Strong observational skills to ensure accurate installation according to specifications.
  • Ability to follow instructions and guidelines precisely.

Teamwork and Communication:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.

Safety Consciousness:

  • Understanding of safety regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and use protective equipment.

Job Dimensions:

  • Assist in successful completion of the project within budget and time constraints.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work for up to 8 hours per day:
    • On Ladders
    • At heights
    • Using hand and power tools
    • Operate specialized equipment, aerial lifts, etc.
    • On feet, climbing, bending over, picking up, overhead, etc.
