Hazen has an exceptional and immediate opportunity for an entry-level water resources engineer to join our Springfield, IL office. The preferred candidate will have a desire and passion for stormwater and watershed management including research, analysis, planning, permitting, and design of stream and wetland restoration, stormwater BMPs, floodplain, and green infrastructure projects. The individual will work closely with other engineers to deliver water resources infrastructure studies and design projects.

Responsibilities include:• Assisting with the delivery of stormwater and watershed management projects 
 • Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, models, and design calculations
 • Preparing assessment and design reports
 • Performing civil site layout and grading, stormwater management planning, and erosion control design for various water-related infrastructure projects
 • Contributing to the development of construction documents and technical specifications
 • Providing construction management support and inspection services
 • Performing stream walks and field assessments
 • Communicating, interacting, and providing clear support for project team members

Education / Experience / Skills:

 • 0-4 years of experience delivering and permitting stormwater and watershed management projects 

 • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering

 • EIT preferred

 • Experience with PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-1, HEC-HMS, SSA, Hydraflow, Flow-3D, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and/or GIS

 • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 • Strong organizational skills
