HAWTHORN BANK is Hiring a DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS - SVP Near Columbia, MO

Oversees and provides day-to-day delivery of operations, critical processes, administration, and servicing activities in connection with retail and commercial electronic deposits and payments. Responsible for oversight and success of operations in the area of deposit and digital payment solutions. Partners with existing leadership to oversee and manage a staff of approximately forty. Collaborates with stakeholders to promote efficient and effective processes and workflow, establish positive working relationships across the organization to achieve business results and deliver the intended customer and employee experience.
  • Leads day-to-day activities of a high visibility, multi-function, multi-team operations department.
  • Manages processing activities and teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of daily operational requirements.
  • Works with and directs team members to develop and improve processes and procedures that meet compliance, legal, and customer service targets.
  • Supervises staff, including hiring recommendations, determining workload, and delegating assignments, training, monitoring, and evaluating performance.
  • Works with Technology, Credit, Compliance, Legal, Audit and other business partners to manage the implementation of company’s policy and procedures, to include execution of overall strategy, regulatory compliance. expense controls and meeting financial and compliance standards.
  • Supports various bank platforms and applications by serving as business owner and/or administrator and complies with all vendor management requirements as business owner.
  • Participates in industry and professional associations and with peer bank counterparts to remain current on pertinent developments in the operations function of banking.
  • Develops and implements efficient, technology driven solutions for daily responsibilities within all bank operations areas.
  • Maintains regulatory compliance and information security standards of supervised areas.
  • Analyzes and resolves complex issues efficiently and effectively in accordance with Bank and industry standards.
  • Collaborates in development/implementation of new processes/systems and changes/improvements to existing systems and processes.
  • Identifies opportunities to refine training and development delivery and curriculum design.
  • Examines opportunities to extend training and development to frontline staff (Universal Bankers, Market Leaders, etc.) while enhancing delivery of regulatory continuing education and annual compliance training.
  • Works closely with product management to ensure ‘best in class’ operational support models as Hawthorn Bank launches, and implements, new products.
Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements
  • 15 years in Banking, Wealth Management, and/or Fintech combined.
  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA a plus.
  • Effective communication and people skills.
  • Proficiency in writing business correspondence.
  • Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision either independently or as a team member, under strict time constraints and manage high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work with computers and various software programs, including proficiency with the Microsoft 365 Suite. RingCentral is also a plus.
  • Familiarity with the banking industry and various regulatory bodies (FDIC, FFIEC, FRB, and SEC) as well as ability to learn company and division operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
