Hastings Manufacturing is Hiring a Purchasing Manager Near Hastings, MI

Description:
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies, policies and practices throughout the company that ensure cost, quality, and delivery expectations are met
  • Plan and execute sourcing for light and medium duty diesel piston rings.
  • Develop and report metrics and performance indicators for supply chain process.
  • Reduce supply chain lead time to minimize inventory exposure and maximize supply chain efficiency.
  • Develop inventory targets and order points.
  • Measure supplier performance, quality, delivery and price.
  • Perform quality audits through a supplier development program.
  • Seek methods to create leveraged buying power for price reductions, and negotiate and implement supplier agreements
  • Develop and implement material productivity targets for the organization through supplier negotiations, low cost sourcing, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Utilize principles of Lean manufacturing and kanban replenishment/consignment inventory to create an efficient supply chain process.
  • Direct all supply chain projects to ensure that they are on time and within budgetary controls.
  • Promote alignment by understanding and communicating customer needs and requirements throughout the organization.
  • Participate in high-level supplier negotiations.
  • Recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and corrective action.
  • Implement actionable savings opportunities to minimize product costs and maximize manufacturing income and direct operating income.
  • Review cash flow forecasting and verify supplier payment terms are in accordance with business requirements.
  • Maintain Supply Chain Management Procedure manual and monitor adherence.
  • Ensure high levels of awareness of Supply Chain activities are maintained throughout the business.

19. Participate/Establish an environment and culture that promotes safety in the workplace.

20. Provide appropriate support and training to ensure department is compliant with all applicable OSHA and TS requirements.

21. Develop constructive relationships with vendors, contractors, consultants and governmental agency representatives as necessary.

22. Meet budgetary goals for this function.

23. Work with peers, superiors and subordinates to insure the development and execution of the department/operating plan.

24. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


1.

2. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.

3. Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Engineered to Order manufacturing environment.

4. At least 15 years’ experience of industry experience in Supply Chain Management.

5. Thorough knowledge and understanding of Sales and Operations Planning, Purchasing, ERP systems (Epicor system experience desired), Logistics, Warehousing, Traffic and Stock Control Theory. Background in Global Procurement and WW strategy development a plus.

6. Strong organizational and management skills

7. Proven decision-making authority: Supplier selection, price negotiations, supplier cash flow analysis, individual plant requirements

8. Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as presentation skills

9. Business travel to customer or to trade shows is required – US and international travel will be required. Expected 10%

10. Demonstrated ability to conceive, develop and implement cost savings efforts and capital investment projects.

11. Must have a hands-on leadership style.

12. Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
