About Harris County Flood Control District:

The Flood Control District has the mission to reduce the risk of flooding in Harris County, the third most populated county in the United States, with a population in excess of 4.7 million, including the City of Houston, the nation’s fourth largest city. The Flood Control District has jurisdiction over the primary stormwater facilities in the county, which consist of approximately 1,500 channels totaling nearly 2,500 miles in length, as well as more than 60 regional stormwater detention basins, totaling more than 10,000 acres and several wetlands mitigation banks including Greens bayou.  

What you will do at Harris County Flood Control District:

Harris County Flood Control District (District) is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Project Scheduler.

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Project Scheduler is responsible for working with the District’s project teams to develop, maintain, and update project schedules including analyzing project schedules, providing expertise to project teams for the optimization of project delivery, and resolving scheduling issues that impact project delivery. This position will also provide desk-side mentoring on scheduling processes to project managers and other project support staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules for the District’s projects in accordance with its scheduling procedures.
  • Work with the District staff, engineering firms, and construction contractors’ project schedulers to establish a framework in which to integrate their schedules into the master project schedule as needed.
  • Ensure milestones, deadlines, and dependencies necessary for project completion are outlined.
  • Perform schedule analysis of all assigned projects as per the District’s scheduling standards and routinely conduct meetings to resolve issues that impact project delivery.
  • Produce layouts and reports for stakeholders when needed for continuous monitoring and progress of District projects.
  • Conduct desk-side mentoring as needed for project managers and other project support staff in their respective roles regarding the District scheduling standards.
  • Assist with business processes and policy development for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

Education:

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university. 

Experience:

  • Five (5) years in the project controls industry with direct work experience in project scheduling utilizing Primavera P6.

Licensure:

  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver’s License

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders and to convey complex schedule information in a clear and understandable manner (verbal, written, and data).
  • Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, such as MS Project and MS Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge of Project Delivery life cycles.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify potential scheduling issues and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Detail-oriented to create accurate and comprehensive schedules and to spot potential conflicts or errors.
