Through its core values of innovation, engagement, and health equity, HCPH strives to bring meaningful solutions to public health issues while keeping Harris County healthy and vibrant.Position Overview:Under the supervision of the Asset Management Supervisor of the Office of Operation & Technology Services (OTS), within Harris County Public Health (HCPH). The Fixed Asset Specialist is responsible for providing support to the Harris County Public Health (HCPH) asset management section and applies the principles and skills of asset management, electronic database management, inventory/data quality control, simple data tabulation and reporting for all assets within the department. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to fast-paced and ever-changing circumstances. Will also serve as additional support and back up throughout the Office of Operation & Technology Services, as needed.Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Identify, track, and keep accurate records of all assets.
  • Coordinates with departments and divisions in maintaining accurate records of assets.
  • Performs periodic asset audits to maintain accurate records at all Harris County Public Health (HCPH) locations.
  • Participates in yearly county and state audits.
  • Property surplus and dispose of assets according to current Harris County policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned, including responding to emergency events.

Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
  • Three (3) years of experience in procurement, supply or purchasing.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Must attend training and complete courses in ICS (Emergency Management) methodology and software within one year of hire date.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate inventory records and other logistical documents.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in inventory management software.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members

Position Type:
  • Full-Time position | 40hrs per week
  • Typically, Monday through Friday: 08:00 am to 05:00 pm
  • Other days and hours as necessary.
Work Environment:
  • This job operates in a professional office environment.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs., bending and standing for periods of time.
  • Able to travel within Harris County, as needed.
