Position Summary:
The VP of Product Development leads, directs, and oversees the daily activities within the Product Development team. In this role the VP will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective software development methodologies, program management practices, and engineering tools, and processes to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery. This position is responsible for all phases of product development and processes. This position is an in-person role if local to South Bend IN.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and guide software development across multiple teams and phases to ensure that engineering solutions are aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee estimation and execution of project work plans.
  • Direct and communicate revisions as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Minimize schedule and technical risk by foreseeing and addressing obstacles proactively.
  • Collaborates with the company’s executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems.
  • Establishes, communicates, and implements engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.
  • Ensure that products are produced according to design and quality specifications
  • Conduct regular development meetings and drive collaboration between internal and external development teams to achieve milestones and deliverables
  • Guide, coach, and serve as an advocate for the development team leveraging Agile/SCRUM techniques
  • Work collaboratively with in-house and outsourced development resources
  • Assist with operational budgeting process
  • Define strategic and tactical plans to achieve organizational goals
  • Research, recommend, implement tools and techniques to continually improve internal data services
  • Participate in the interviewing, selecting, hiring, and firing of employees and ensures training of new team members on the Development team
  • Conduct employee performance reviews/evaluations and career development discussions
  • Educate, mentor, develop goals for the Product Development team
  • Complete other job-related assignments and special projects as directed
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proven ability to lead a team
  • Understands and is knowledgeable around multiple coding languages
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills
  • Strong operational, project management and process improvement skills
  • Demonstrates ability to produce high quality documentation and presentations
  • Strong knowledge of systems development and project management methodologies/processes
  • Deep understanding of the HDA application

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects
Education & Experience:
  • 10 years of product development/product management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • Responsible for protecting data entrusted to HHIT by customers or other parties which is demonstrated through strict adherence to HHIT’s data security and privacy policies and procedures
  • Speaking and writing English is a requirement for this position
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
