At Harlem Link, we are seeking a Dance Activity Specialist who is passionate about youth development, committed to serving the Harlem community and deeply focused on caring for children for Summer 2024. Harlem Link’s Activity Specialists are responsible for developing and facilitating engaging lesson plans and enrichment activities that centers students’ identities and focuses on student growth. Our Activity Specialists use our foundational principles of Responsive Classroom practices, Emotionally Responsive practices, and Anti-Bias Anti Racist practices to structure empowering learning communities. Activity Specialists at Harlem Link are outcome-oriented, hard working, creative thinkers, receptive to feedback, solutions oriented, and put in the time necessary to ensure our students meet their academic benchmarks.

Qualifications

• High School or Equivalent required
• Minimum of two years of experience teaching dance in a school setting

Key Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate supervision for students
• Develop age-appropriate lesson plans that help students approach dance with confidence and excitement
• Provide daily dance instruction that will support the development of social-emotional learning competencies, seek to build skills and encourage collaboration
• Collaborate with the After School Director, School Staff and Students to create original pieces of dance to be showcased to the school community.
• Develop and coordinate 1 community wide performances throughout the school year
• Maintain classroom equipment, take daily attendance, and one on one meetings with families
• Works collaboratively with all stakeholders
• Create and maintain a safe space that supports students with various needs
• Attend all necessary Harlem Link meetings

Compensation, Benefits and Hours

• The salary range for this position is $20- $25 an hour and is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Harlem Link is committed to providing our team with a range of benefit offerings at a competitive value. Benefits are provided in accordance with school policy.
• Activity Specialists are required to be at the building from 12:00pm - 4:00pm four days a week, and from 12:00pm to 4:30pm one day a week for professional learning opportunities. Activity Specialists also begin the school year in mid-August for a mandatory two-week Summer Institute training.
