We are currently assisting our client, a Health & Life Sciences organization, with a search for a Technical Product Manager (TPM) Consultant.
Job Summary
We are looking for a Technical Product Manager (TPM) Consultant to work with the data team to push the "idea-experiment-insight" process forward. The initiative aims to remove obstacles in data harmonization and standardization, reuse of tools, thus fostering an environment conducive to collaborative research and open science.
The successful candidate will have the ability to manage multiple project deadlines, work collaboratively within the organization and with external partners to drive the impact of our programmatic efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product development, technical project management, dev team leadership, and a proven track record in managing complex projects and teams.
This position will report to the team s Director and work closely across multiple programmatic teams and external research partners. The TPM will develop a firm grasp on strategy and collaborate with the Product team to map it to product vision, strategy, and deliverables to each partner.
She/he/they will engage with external research stakeholders to gather stated and implicit pain points in their research and develop product requirements, prioritize them, and drive them to execution.
The TPM will conduct product management activities including the management of product roadmap, development schedules, defining product success metrics and milestones, removing blockers, communicating with partners, stakeholders and executive team, and planning releases with the support of the Senior Program Manager and Directors.
The TPM will develop deep knowledge of technical details to collaborate with the Engineering team.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Uncover and understand customer needs and translate them into product requirements.
  • Provide cross-functional coordination with developers, engineers, architects, quality assurance, and operations. Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation and development plans match the expectations of the product.
  • Create and maintain documentation for the product specs, IT / security review, manuals for deployment, users, etc.
  • Lead agile development and collaborate with scrum master in sprint planning, reviews, retrospective, backlog grooming. Constantly plan for upcoming sprints and monitor team velocity and proactively report risks.
  • Collaborate with UX designers to design products, perform UX reviews, and usability testing.
  • Implement and monitor agile processes to manage and prioritize scope and timelines.
  • Create product roadmap and long-term vision empowering researchers, organizations, and data owners around the globe to share, analyze data in secure manner.
  • Establish feedback loop with leadership and other research partners to ensure that the development is aligned with user feedback and strategic priorities.
  • Understand and analyze data pipelines, algorithms, and automated systems.
  • Execute stakeholder communication framework that provides clarity and accountability across quarterly backlog to a wide audience of leaders, stakeholders, scientists, and internal development teams.
  • Serve as a product expert to the development team and the researchers. Answer and address questions about the product and its capabilities.
  • Understand, research, and follow technical trends in the industry. Able to assess emerging products and companies to measure their potential value or threat to the company and its products.
  • Manage technical vendor relationships actively including remote teams to promote transparency and accountability.
  • Prepare executive summaries for leadership.
  • Develop robust analytics for the product (e.g., Google, Matomo) and CRM integration and report on product and usage metrics.
  • Coordinate with other technology/software projects and PMs for mapping product alignment, modularization, build once and reuse efficiency optimization.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing multiple product efforts across cross-functional teams spanning multiple domains.
  • 2 years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Relevant experience developing web-based products and customer facing mobile apps. Experience shipping at least one web based or mobile product as the primary product owner.
  • Bachelor s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
  • Experience with PHI/PII considerations (GDPR, HIPAA), open source (documentation, community dynamics, licensing, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies.
  • Ability to understand and evaluate product features for strengths and weaknesses and balance technical trade-offs against business ones.
  • Demonstrate strong empathy for users, researchers (including non-technical users).
  • Excellent technology and strategic thinking skills to analyze product market fit and successfully launch products.
  • Attention to detail, ability to thrive in ambiguity and competing product needs in a multi-partner/stakeholder landscape.
  • Commitment to the organization s core values, mission, and programs.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Adaptability to work on competing priorities in an agile work setting.
  • Empathy and desire to help people.
  • Good understanding of web development and demonstrates ability to learn new technologies at work.
  • Understanding of software languages like Python, R, SQL, etc.
  • Prior product experience with AI model development.
  • Ability to communicate technical problems clearly to non-technical teams.
  • Experience managing multiple customer-facing and internal/administrative tools.
  • Commitment to the organization s core values, mission, and programs with an approach that is consistent with the organization s guiding principles and holding self to the highest ethical standards.
  • Experience working in the field of neuroscience is not required but would be a plus.

Duration: Defined Term Contract, one year
Location: Greater Seattle Area, Hybrid Onsite Work Schedule. Exceptional candidates outside of the Seattle area may be considered for remote work.
Compensation: Competitive compensation, anticipating ~$90.00 per hour pay rate target depending on experience.
