Handlery Hotel San Diego is Hiring a Front Desk Agent Near San Diego, CA

To assist guests upon arrival at, and departure from, the Front Desk and anticipate needs and assist guests during their stay. To ensure efficient checking in and checking out of guests. To maintain confidentiality of room number, guest information, credit card information, key control, and security of guest belongings. To provide service to guests and fellow team members in a manner which meets or exceeds Handlery Hotels’ standards and to comply with established company and departmental policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Greet and welcome guests upon arrival. Register guests into the computer, verify reservation, address, and credit information. Recognize VIGs, preferred, and frequent guests. Ensure guest has received correct room type and is satisfied with room assignment.

Accept payment for guests’ accounts both at the time of registration and at checkout. Maintain a house bank including attraction tickets and make a deposit and accurate report of receipts daily. Cash U.S. traveler’s checks. Upon departure, thank the guest and invite the guest to return.

Assist guests with safety deposit boxes. Post miscellaneous charges as requested. Attend and participate in daily pre-service meeting. Attend departmental meetings and training sessions.

Other

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Upon employment, all team members are required to fully comply with property rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the property’s facilities and equipment. Team members who violate property rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the property.

  • Assist in handling mail and facsimiles.
  • Print out driving directions and airline boarding passes.
  • Book reservations for on-site guests.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job to standards, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Physical Demands

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by property environmental systems.
  • Must be able to stand at front desk for up to 7.5 hours per day.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the property on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to accomplish daily tasks.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, managers, and fellow team members.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual and finger dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education
High school diploma or equivalent education is required.

Experience
Minimum of one year experience in a similar position is required.

Licenses or Certificates
Able to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates, or permits applicable to the position.

Grooming
Team member must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Handlery Hotels’ standards.
